Procreate has a brush which does the lightning - or cracks-like effect, depending on how to use it, and then I painted some more fiery particles in it with a soft brush, adding some highlights as a finishing touch.

Thank you very much for the information. I will look around, if the programs I use have somethning of a similar nature. On what kind of layer did you do the effect?

Just the normal kind of layer, no additional characteristics. You can just paint it like that with any soft brush and some soft eraser, but it goes faster with a brush designed for the effect, of course.
