Description I know that I've been submitting a lot of flower photography (particularly roses) and I apologize to all of you who are sick of that. But I just found a few hidden pictures that I took a while ago and thought I would submit them. Plus lately I've just been too busy to go out and take pictures, and there really aren't many places to go around here, it's not that pretty! So just kind of bear with me for a little while.

I thought about changing this to sepia too, but I couldn't decide which I liked better. I was really pleased with how nicely the red of the roses came out so I left it in color. What do you think?

Just cropped it a bit and adjusted contrast slightly in psp 8 (I really wish i could afford photoshop!)

ooh, pretty roses. I love the sense of distance with the roses. The colours are what make this picture stand out. Why is the title "To Where You Are"? is there any significance to that? I know it's a song by Josh Groban (I LOVE that song, and I'm a big fan of Josh Groban), so is there any connection to the song?

oh yeah baby, you know how to turn me on! awesome composure and colors. the red is perfectly dominat over the black. roses with a black back is always a winner.

Hmm Photoshop... I love that program...

Anyways... Another great rose capture. I like the vibrantness of the rose and the way the roses in the background blur out...

I love this one ^_^'. The focus is brilliant and the fading really works well in this one.
Honestly, I think that sepia toning it would ruin it.

hehehe..another rose, but it's all still good! I think this would make a good picture for a greetings card.

I usually find roses to be boring, but yours are certainly NOT boring!

well thank you! That compliment means a lot, especially since there are many many rose shots on this site. I'm trying to stay away from flowers for a while (my latest journal entry talks about that) but I really do appreciate your comment. Thank you!

Colour! Keep it in colour! The colour is great, why would you want to ditch it?

Hmm, I think you should ahve zoomed in more on the front rose. Were you trying to have a trail of roses behind? Well you can keep the trail if you want...but the front rose right now is the same size as the others, and the other roses also have really vibrant colours, so there's not much to make it stand out. I think you could also improve the picture by making the line of roses more strongly diagonal, ie move your camera so the front rose is in the lower left corner, and the very back one is in the upper right. All this is hypothetical of course, since this is an old photo. But it's always good to see how you can improve a photo since it means you'll do better next time. You should probably have used a shorter depth of field too, sicne like I said the colours are really strong in ALL the roses. If the ones in the back were more blurred then it would put more focus on the front rose. This is expecially important for the rose right behind the front one, since they kind of blend into each other and look like a gigantic mutant twinhead thing. But it's really nice right now too, the red goes really well with the green. Um. You should probably keep it in colour, the red is one of the best things about this picture.

Ehehe, no problem about the late reply. You probably remember replying to a photography thread in the thumbshare forum about a month ago or maybe more...well...that was me. I'm a bit slow with these things too

you shouldn't apologise....these images are really fantastic. this one, i think is my favourite of the roses...it is just breath taking...i really don't know how you've managed to get such rich colour...and the lighting and shallow depth of field...well it's just perfect!

this is simply beautiful - i dont know how else to describe it. the soft colours and perfect lighting lend a very romantic ambience to this piece, and, as a hopelessly quixotic person myself - it really appeals to me. I especially love the way the large bloom is the focus of the shot, but the other blooms behind it kind of lead your eye to it. im no photographer, hence the untechnical terms, but my lack of understanding doesnt dull my sense of appreciation. this is a definite favourite, very aesthetically pleasing. beautiful, in a word

aw, well thanks! But hey, it's easy when you have something beautiful like roses to work with. I think the reason the color stands out so much is also due to the fact that these roses were the most amazing deep shade of red that I have ever seen. They were only $5 too, so I just had to buy them!
