Description
This is the largest, heaviest and most colorful African forest antelope. It has an auburn or chestnut coat with 10 to 15 vertical whitish stripes running down its sides. There are two classified Bongo species, the Western or Lowland Bongo and the Eastern or Mountain Bongo.

When looking for a new animal to paint I checked the National Geographic Photo Ark (can really recommend it!), and almost immediately discovered the Bongo while browsing randomly. The striking coat really got my attention so I decided to paint one
