Description
Finished in 2021.The okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is the only living relative of the giraffe, which is why it is often called “the forest giraffe.” When it was first described, it was mistaken as a new species of zebra. In it’s native Democratic Republic of the Congo, the okapi inspired folklore of an African unicorn due to its shyness and rarity.
