The underside of water, in this image and many others, is great, and I love the title too... Great work!
As great as this image is, I think that you made it easy on yourself by selecting a diffused light. I think a directional soft light would have been more suitable, so the light would have been as dramatic as the subject.
I know you can!
A great concept could be enough to make a big emotional impact, but for perfection and highest visual impact you must have great lighting.
Some people don;t know how, or don't have the equipment. You do, so make the best out of it.
Personally, I was wondering how this image would have turned out with sky colors in the BG - either blues or sunset - I think it would blow people away (internal reflections and all...)!
Back to the beginning - great image, I love it as is!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davenit In reply to IkouKaabii [2011-02-11 20:20:00 +0000 UTC]

Because it sorta looks like an atom bomb exploding. Glad you like it.

x-e-q-shnr [2011-02-01 01:15:28 +0000 UTC]

A-Bomb like apple bomb?
Im just trying to understand the conceptualization.

If that is what you're trying to say, you should do a piece with the Apple logo and Microsoft theme symbolizing the destruction of Microsoft by Apple's ingenuity and creativity.
However, you should do it very similar to what you've done here, using the atom bomb as a reference for massive destruction/obliteration.

DeepChrome [2011-01-28 22:52:45 +0000 UTC]

Very nice. I like the texture of the water trailing behind the apple there. (Actually if I'm not mistaken, is that actually air, and the apple entering the water, only upside down?)

Liking the neutral tones, and the visual contrast between these textures and the smoothness of the apple itself.

Nicely done!! I really like that you inverted the frame, really makes you take a second and look at what's happening. How heavy was that apple?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Davenit In reply to BlackCarrionRose [2011-01-28 15:28:48 +0000 UTC]

Hey Sam... actually it's ceramic so it has some good weight to it. Made for a cool splash and quite a mess.

BlackCarrionRose In reply to Davenit [2011-01-30 19:44:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I was wondering how it got submerged so well, it worked fantastically. the mess is half the fun though right
