Looks pretty good.
If you can, do the special effects in the app first and then photoshop the results. It will look better that way.
The plasma stream and the energy beam could be faked in the app so you get the right lighting effects. Should be some orange light shining on the doomed ship and the energy beam from the borg ship should light up the front of the ship. At the point of contact maybe you should have orange and green energies there.

Wow nice, particularly with the nebula and Borg concept ship here.
I like the use of greens and the Movies vibe here.
BTW, I'm not sure if this is where you got your concept for the Borg ship, but I recall from a Star Trek book that the studio went through a few variations on Borg ships before settling on the Cube in First Contact. One of the concepts was a Washington-Monument-shaped obelisk with the Sphere mounted up in the tip. This ship idea of yours reminds me of that since the bottom half has some weird perspective issues that makes me think it's receding off into the distance.
However, I do agree with the others about that plasma stream. It doesn't look detailed or subtle enough. Either it needs some texturing and some varied glowies going on in there, or to be made very faint. Personally I think you might've done better to just have that part of the nacelle be sliced clean off, as if by a Borg cutting beam.

really gorgeous work there, but one small criticism, the plasma stream (?) might be a little too visible. not alot, but if it had been just a bit more transparent it may have looked more realistic, but overall great job

wow, 15 layers? that's intense. I think, what I would have done, once you had all the layers as you liked them, merged them down (but not the last layer, just the ones of the plasma trail) then it would have been only one layer, and you could adjust the transparency of the whole thing at once... but that's just me...

heres the borg timeline:
enterprise-E stops borg at first contact
Nx-1 encounters surviving borg from first contact [the sphere was shot down over the arctic hense where the fround them in stuse] where the borg steale a ship. but the nx-1 stops the borg only after they have sent out a call to the delta quadrant which we are told after will take about 200 years to reach [so it will reach ther about the 24th centuary]
enterprise-D encounter the borg where they asinilate pricard [saddly i aint seen them episodes [i prefer tos but tng is boss as well]
which leads us back to....
the Enterprise-E encounters the borg at first contact
