Awesome! I don't know how to make wings myself, but can't wait where you go with it!

DaveGrasso In reply to Decadia [2011-02-28 07:40:44 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. The wings were actually easy. I created a very simple ZSphere chain for the wings without any nodes and they sort of turned out this way. I did move some of the polys around on the low-poly mesh to make them a little bit lenghtier, but over all very simple.

Hmm, I tried to do that, but they wouldn't curve at all in the preview and even though I pulled the zsphere out that one part didn't come out. But I guess that is just being me. xD The other way I tried it was filling the wings out in zsketch but they came out all fat and it took a long time to render. Xd
But the way you said it was MUCH closer than that long way I took. I'll experiment some more with that. Thankies! G:
Still very awesome alien ftw!

Roberts-The-Vile [2011-02-05 14:16:19 +0000 UTC]

For some reason, it is almost reminiscent of the strange creatures described in Stephen King's Dark Tower series to me.

It's believably alien, too.

I never read the Dark Tower series, but now that you mentioned it, I might check it out. H.P. Lovecraft has been my main inspiration.

It's a great series. There are many parts throughout it where I was able to detect where King was heavily influenced by HPL. It's a good read.

It's really cool and inspiring as well!!! Uhm do you know a site or something to learn more about z brush because I can see how much cool things you can do with it but I can't work with it at all.

Very cool creature, Dave. It strikes me as a sort of dragon/bat and mosquito hybrid...an absolute nightmare to imagine this thing flying around!
Great design, indeed; plausible, sinewy anatomy, unique and non-derivative.
Strong stuff. I look forward to seeing where this beastie goes.

Slippery-Frog [2009-09-11 22:10:38 +0000 UTC]

Now scale wise would this be like the size of a bird, a car, or a hulking behemoth in the sky?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaveGrasso In reply to Slippery-Frog [2009-09-12 02:07:27 +0000 UTC]

I would say the head size would be about 2 feet long to give you an idea of the general size.
