I finished the model last night...Drew a quick background to see how it could look...

Hello Dave ! The model is really nice.
Just a few comments :
First concerning the 3D model :
the front weapons (the things in red) are too "clean" in comparison to the rest of the textures. You should make them a bit "older". And why not with the tip of them "burnt" just as if they had already shot some powerful laser beams?
Just my feeling, but the shape is great and the other textures are ok.
I'm not enthusiastic with the flame on the front, but it is just a personal taste.
Then concerning the image :
Maybe a little more motion blur much have been better, but this would have prevent us to see the model clearly, which was I think your intention.

PS : is it dedicated to sale? If it is the case, Id' like to have the reactor light beams included, this would add an extra touch of realism... (ok, ok, I'm not here to make my shopping list!)...

You're really welcome.
I'm also a beginner modeler (with the goal to make my living out of it in less than 10 years! - but it does not matter if I cannot), and I'm very interesting in seeing what people are doing, and how they do it. That's why I watch a lot of models, which is also good for inspiration. And from what I saw on the marketplace, you can really be proud of what you did (except this flame on the foreground!).
I'll be happy to see your next versions!

I'm really glad you like the model as this is one of my fist serious attempt of modelling something.
I love your idea about reworking the guns, and have already started making the corrections for them... expect an updated version really soon
The flame is indeed a bit 'kitch'... but I still don't know what to do with the front to catch the eye a little more. I'm still experimenting with making rusty 3D 'spikes' to go on top.
The motion blur will definiltely be applied in the final scene. The background here was just a draft... I'm still busy creating a planetary environment to go with the scene.
As I only have a personal/non-commercial license of 3DCoat, I have no plans yet for sale... though this might change real soon If I keep having this much fun modelling.
