Meanwhile at Nazmart Castle, Belarith's nurse, old Fortune Chutterbuck, was alerted by the comotion in the courtyard. Now she loved young Belarith as she were her own child, and the sight of the girl in the cruel grasp of her stepmother was more than Chutterbuck could bear. The next thing she knew she was upon them, grabbing the Countess from behind in a bid to force her to release the girl. In the course of the struggle, Countess's veil slid from her hairless head in Chutterbuck's gristly hand. Furious the cold-eyed Countess jabs an elbow backwards into her upstart attacker's chin.

I don't see her needing to shave it. A real witch is always as bald as a boiled egg, apparently... So Roald Dahl would have us believe, anyway.
