Description Scene 14 of 'The Blackguard'. (Start: [link] )

---

The countess enters a circular chamber, , in the centre of which stands a large bowl set on a pedistal. She locks the door with the key only she possesses, then approached the elevated vessel. She cuts her finger with her knife and lets a few drops of blood fall into the pool of water. She mutters words of enchantment, finishing:
'...Deus ditis, sanguis vitaque mei daris. Filii mei ostendito!'

---
The countess crossed the chamber
in the bowells of Nazmart,
where in secrecy she practiced
her outlawed and occult art.
A scrying bowl she had there
held on silver serpents' wings
her own blood she dropped in offering
that she might see unknown things.
'Deus ditis, sanguis
vitaque me daris;
Filii mihi ostenditio!'
This enchantment she did hiss.

Just found this, although I've long been a fan of this artist.  Lovely!  But then, I can see Dashinvaine is a real professional.

I've only ever dabbled with Latin on and off and that was mostly a long time ago, but let me have a guess -

"...God, speak, I give you of my blood and life; show me my son!"

Is that somewhere near the mark, anyone?  Or is "ditis" something related to "Dis" meaning Hades or Pluto, rather than some form of "dixis" meaning speak?  As you can see, my knowledge of Latin consists mainly of picking up words from all over, without being too clear how the actual grammar or sentence construction works.

Great dragon design on the vessel. You could try sneaking this into the monsters and maidens contest; it would make an original approach to the theme

Trouble is she's no maiden...

I assume she's going to check on her son, especially by the Latin (which I am really not good at) she's uttering. But this really looks sinister here. Very nice work--the atmosphere, character design, and details are all great!

Blood seems to be a very powerfull component for every activity of magic. wonder if she sees only visions related to her.

She better be careful! They might think she's practicing black magic. At least, she looks like she's practicing dark magic here.
