Just to clarify things, their tongue can streatch a long way, it works like a frogs tongue and can be used to catch things, those small things in the tongue are NOT thorns, imagine your taste buds, they look like small dots right? now imagine them bigger and wrigling around, that's what those things are, they are part of the tongue, not thorns, the tongue cannot be used for attacking, it's not that strong and not that heavy, the little tentacle things on the tongue are retracted when the Olmakian's mouth is shut(thus why it looks like they have a clown's nose), Olmakians communicate through the ball like end of their tongues, that squeaks itself making a sound similar to this [link]

Usually they are, this one is a space pirate, not to mention one of the last olmakians, thus he dresses in a ways that would attract less attention (which in his head is like wearing a red hood)

They were too messed up space clowns, another species destroyed their planet from orbit and started a purging of their species through the universe until they got regarded as more of a myth. And thus Jaa'ak is most possibly one of the last ones alive at this moment in time

In a way yes poor Olmakians, in another, not that much, Olmakians are known, in the legends that survived that is, for their cruelty towards other living beeings, Olmakians reproduce via colorful rubbery eggs that sprout from the back of their females, this eggs are stored in large pools called "ball pits" [link]
The Olmakians kidnaped other people and threw them inside said ball pits to be devoured alive by the many olmakian larvae that swim on the pit, later on, said larvae crawl out of the ball pits and into the cavern systems that hold their hatching rituals, than, the larvae encase themselves in a pink cotton like web [link] cocoon and begin their metamorhposis, this web is harvested by the adult Olmakians to be used on their prisioners later on, the larvae bursts from it's cocoon an adult and walks out of the cave systems, hungry, it eats any survivors from the ball pits or other larvae that might be looking for a place for their cocoons
The Olmakians are also known for throwing wild festivals that usually involve the murdering of other species and their later consuming

Yeah they do hate everything, in the Olmakians case i wouldn't say they do it out of hate, it's perhaps just their culture, they are clowny assholes don't get me wrong, but i wouldn't go as far as saying they HATE their victims, they just murder them because for them that's either fun(festivals) or part of their natural life cycle(throwing people in the ball pits for their larvae is similar to a bird feeding it's young in their nest)
