Vermithrax Pejorative, the villainess from the film Dragonslayer (1981) vs Draco, the hero from the film Dragonheart (1995).Personally I prefer Vermi. She's a lot more elegantly built and I believe she was much more realistic, even without CGI.

It is funny, I have just seen the movie Dragonheart it in two days, and there, I find this drawing. Set apart the fact that the scene is still annoying (sorry, but I do not like violence), the drawing is very well made.

Dragonslayer is the better film but the dragon in Dragonheart is anatomicaly crorrect as it has four legs and two wings making it a proper dragon rather tha the smaller, weaker wyvern that only has two legs.

Draco is a male, and is therefore built somewhat more heavily than Vermithrax. Also, Vermithrax is very old, likely much older than Draco, and the wizard Ulrich explained that dragons her age are in constant pain. Essentially, Vermithrax has dragon arthritis. Add in the extra set of limbs and Draco's superior intelligence, this fight is Draco's. Though the two of them are much more likely to just suck it up and mate in order to carry on the species, because they're both the last of their kind in their respective stories.

Let us not forget, Vermithrax is a lady, and Draco is a vessel of Sean Connery. He could just put his pimp moves on her, shtup her, and convince her to leave the poor village alone or whatever nasty business she's up too. My vote goes to Draco by seduction.

XD XD XD I love Vermithrax!!! (still one of my fav dragons) The Dragonslyer is a good movie! and I love Phil Tippett's stop-motion technique as well^^ besides Tippett creates both Dragons 
I have the book and the movie....but in the book vermithrax is male...

Yes, the book by Wayland Drew! But i've never read the english version and i think thre are always problems with german traslations....

I'd like to point out that strictly speaking Vermithrax isn't a dragon, she's a wyvern. A Dragon has four legs, a wyvern only has two legs and their wings.

It depends on the setting. Some stories have wyverns as a separate species altogether.

Dragon is a very general definition. Wyvern is just a name given to a specific kind of dragon.
There are all sorts; wyrms, fire drakes, amphisbenes (sp?) etc.

Great idea! I still enjoy dragonslayer. I also agree that despite all of the CGI improvements Vermithrax was the best movie dragon.

Interesting fight, I'm not really sure the outcome of this fight, but I'm inclined to lean towards Draco, because of his extra limbs, intelligence, and he seems like he has more muscle behind his limbs that is devoted to strength instead of just flight.

The red/brown ones Draco, I kinda liked them both really. Draco has more intelligence so this fights in his favor but then again it did take a honest to god wizard to shoot Vermithrax from the sky so who knows. Draco's wings were half a size bigger, maybe thats why he appears off. Great composition
