S t a r sSo many stupid lovers
Are enamored by literature
And the ethereal liars
Or should I say vile spiders
Made of fire?
Known as s t a r s.
So it goes,
And Romeos
Are caught up in their web of ink
Before they have the time to blink.
For stars do not hold life
They just dazzle the eye
As they sit up on their
Arrogant thrones in the sky.
They cannot laugh and cannot cry.
They make tragic heroes of you and I.
Forget all of that nonsense you've learned.
I know from experience that stars can only burn.
They lure you close with warmth and light
They say they're made of sugar,
Wishes, fate, and heart's desire.
They say their gravity is to "hold you tight"
Until you feel your flesh on fire.
They'll use you as kindling
To better their shine.
Believe me, for I know
That a star is never kind.
And the funniest thing, my friend?
The saddest thing you've ever heard?
I know that stars can only burn
But nevertheless, again and again,
I return, I return.
I return, and so I burn.
I never learn.
