Out of all of the rogues I have drawn over the years, the Penguin is probably the easiest to draw for the most part. It's so easy to really get his shape right, and of course the beak nose, top hat, and umbrella, these are really easy to draw from muscle memory in my opinion. I also have to add out of all of them, Penguin is probably one of the least changed rogues, and one of the least bad. As you can see, I was heavily influenced to draw him similarly to Tim Burton's incarnation, as well as Tas sprinkled in. So this is kind of a semi-case where not being able to draw hands properly became a benefit since his hands are more like flippers in this design, and of course the stance and most of the coloring would carry over to my current Penguin design, with a more refined suit added later on. With that said, there are still glaring issues that can't be ignored in this piece. For example, the shoes look more like Penguin beaks, and I don't think I ever finished drawing a part of them. There is also the issues with his eyes being nearly bigger than his nose, as well as his hat being off center. The cigarette looks like a piece of black licorice which had been lite on fire since there are lines of smoke coming out of it, how that's possible, I know not. But in conclusion, this is a Penguin I was proud of when I first drew him, and I still kind of am after revisiting my old artwork, and hey, he managed to stand the test of time and still lives on to this day in the Penguin drawing most here are accustomed to. So not a horrible drawing, I'm letting this one pass, but make no mistake. There are stills strikes I'm taking off of it, but overall, I could have done much worse.
