I know that some people wanted to see my G1 collection, so here's a little sample. This is two of three of my G1 shelves, and two of four shelves of pony in this corner. I have this shelf and another and ponies scattered around my room. There's some artwork hanging on the wall by a marvelous artist who just knocks my socks off. ~Marbletoast is an awesome person and artist, and we were friends waay back when G3 was new in stores.
We're old now! Ahhhhh! I still have a present to mail out to her, too, at some point...I apologize to anyone who follows me only for G4, I know that feel. I don't really use that feature because I hate having too many new piece notices. If it makes you feel better, I have all the stuff taken for my tail tutorial- I just need to put it together.

Gorgeous collection! I'm guessing you don't keep any ponies mint in box? I had a rather large amount of G3's, for which I didn't keep an ounce of packaging, and now I'm considering whether to keep (some of) my G4's in their boxes, so that they're more valuable. D'you think it's a good idea? Sorry for bothering you, but you've obviously been doing this far longer than I have

I do have a small collection of ponies MIB. I wouldn't really say that it would magically make them worth more than a normal pony, though. I kept the two G3 mailorders in bag, and then several early G3s, and a couple G3.5s (mainly because I had no interest in opening them.) and frankly-- those that I have in box aren't much more valuable than the ones I have loose. In G3 tons of collectors rushed the scene and decided to keep their ponies MIB to make them more valuable but in the end it just devalued them. Now people are rushing into G4 and trying to keep their ponies valuable by keeping them in the box, but more likely than not the price of G4s will drop dramatically after the cancellation of the cartoon, when that time should come. The line will probably try to squeeze out a bit more money running without the cartoon, making them not particularly valuable, but inevitably I think the collector value will fall. Collectors are after all, who make the market.
tl;dr: they're plastic ponies, not dollar bills yo. play and enjoy them. to maximize value, don't cut hair. That should be the best suggestion

The only packaging I've decided to keep is that thing with their names on at the bottom, only because I can plop my ponies and all that plastic crap on them and have it look really tidy.
And, teehee, my mane 6 all have their hair cut and styled XD But, hey, everyone has the mane 6 so they'd hardly be worth much, right?

i adore your work <3 thanks for all your effort in sharing customizing pony knowledge! i haven't done a custom in a few years but golly i just went asswild in toys r us (they're having a buy one get one sale on mlp in the US) buying baits to restart ye old hobby. i was so unsure about how to dismantle a g4 until i found your lovely tutorials <3

i never even HEARD of dream beauties until recently ... i have no idea how i missed them when i was a kid though. i had so many of those fashion star fillies & she-ra horses lolol i really have no idea how they magically slipped by. did you have a she-ra horse by any chance? oh jesus, they smelled like delicious baked goods for some reason haha

Cotton candy is a pretty pony-- you should buy her her Baby if you haven't yet! I love the two together. Butterscotch is my favorite flat foot though, followed by Blue Belle :3~ I love the earliest ponies the best.. like the Rainbow Ponies

oh wow, a brazilian minty! that's a nirvana pony right? i saw a nirvana glory on ebay a few weeks ago, but it was hyper expensive
i'm not a big fan of the babies, the eyes weird me out
my favourite g1 line are the pony friends, creamsicle the giraffe and such
i also like the so-softs, but i haven't bought any off them yet, as i've been spending my money on g4 ponies lately
i just bought both of the EU bonus ponies, daisy dreams and rainbow flash, and i'm yet to open either as i'm considering keeping one mint-condition but i can decide which one

Funny story about the pony friends- I grew up in the early 90s, so I didn't have a lot of ponies but what I found second hand. In my case it was one seapony, one windy wing pony, a brush and grow unicorn, and the camel, Spunky.
well, I hated that camel. I didn't know it was a 'friend'- I just thought it was the ugliest damn pony. I called it the 'retard pony' for most of my play years.
I love the so-softs, I kept them in my locker in high school and my dorm room now that I'm in college. Because no matter how much you're hating on a pony, if it's fuzzy,it's 20% cooler. (I want to see So-Soft Fluttershy!)
I don't have anything past wave one still. Damn Hasbro and their shitty distribution I just want to buy ponies.

i was actually surprised to find the bonus ponies, australia hasn't even gotten wave two yet, we only just got the blind bags
in fact on monday i went to a local toys r us and bought four of the blind bags
i got fluttershy, rarity, roseluck, and that fireworks twilight recolour
and right now i'm trying my hand at making a custom big mac using a G3 baby i picked up from the salvo's
