The servers are actually back online now There's still a small decent community in there.
But yes, they shouldn't have closed them in the first place.

My laptop with my account on it overheated constantly from being overloaded with spore information back in 2011. I was devastated. I had managed to barely get the bot parts just in time, too. I don't know if maxis ever got around to releasing them to everyone. My spore discs got old and scratched, and I forgot my password. I was sad, but when I heard the servers were down, supposedly for good, I was slightly glad that the entire affair was over and done with, and also pretty sad that I couldn't play that awesome game ever again. Hearing that it is still alive feels like a kick in the cock'n'balls.

Hmm, I see what you mean :/
A lot of the first great creators are gone and done, they left years ago before the Servers went down, like Aendevor, Remypas, Grimbot, amongst others. Though, there's still a chance to play it again if you got the games again on Origin. Normally I'd hate to suggest using that service, but when it comes to Spore, it's about all that'll 'safely' support it. Until a month back, I was still using my CDs too.

Every one has a 'Phase' were they do something based around one particular theme, in this case spore would be a soul example
At the moment i'm in a Grey Alien mood, thus why i've uploaded a few of them here

I know that feeling of phases all too well. I cycle between so many within the span of a few months. 
Not sure what phase I'm in currently, they blur together
Have been trying to write some screenplays based around local UFO myths, so I guess I'm into a UFO mood.
