Description A wide view of the western end of Truro station, and another shot from Clun Castle's visit to Cornwall on September 6, 1985. No. 7029 has set back after her tender-first run from Par. 'Mr Important' has donned his orange vest and got out in front of everybody to take his shot.

In the 1950s and 1960s, when I was a young lad, the background was filled up by a large steam motive power depot - 83F Truro. Behind where Clun Castle is standing would have been a selection of Western Region steam locomotives, including Counties, Halls, Granges, prairie tanks and pannier tanks. The shed was demolished in 1971 and replaced by these rather less photogenic agricultural buildings.

The way in to Truro shed was by a cinder path running down from Dobbs Lane in the background where the houses are, the entrance now hidden by these warehouses. It was reputed to be a virtually impossible shed to get round unofficially, but its locomotives could easily be viewed from the station, the approach road or arriving and departing trains.

Excellent shot, my Friend. A fine view and a great composition. A good looking train, Senor.
