Description The safeties scream as GWR 'King' 4-6-0 No. 6024 'King Edward I' reverses out of Penzance on September 19, 1998. There are not very many spare spaces on the retaining wall; heads and arms protrude from the support coach. The squashed down chimney and safety-valve bonnet do the 'King's' looks no favours and I was glad to have got a few shots of her before the surgery was done.

In the background is a 'Great Western Trains' (soon to become First Great Western) HST which, in its turn, will become history.
