Description You know what they say about opinions... they're like those things that everyone has. >>.

I see a lot of stamps proclaiming that someone has an opinion, and you better respect it, or something, or be nice when you disagree. I can be nice as cherry pie and people will act like I'm nailing them to the cross when I respond to them.

Like I said in my comments to the last stamp, if you have an opinion and you don't want anyone to challenge it, keep it to yourself. I don't so much mean like... in your blog or journal. That counts as personal space. But if you comment on a picture or in a forum, don't do so unless you're ready to defend your position. That goes as much for people I agree with as people I don't.

Otherwise, why should I care what you think?

This is just a stamp I've always wanted to make. Credit to John F. Kennedy who tackled this long before I was born: Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

And Thomas Jefferson : Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.

In the paleoart community, it's "I don't care about your opinion if you're not citing anything."

Oh my gosh, THAAANK YOU!
As a person who was damn near born to be a debater(also known as a 'Devil's Advocate' and/or troll depending on how butthurt people get) it always irks me when someone will just make some sort of random statement, even worse butting into a conversation, and then get all pissy if I or anyone else say something to them :I
Hopefully that's something people can grow out of.
Love this stamp <3

Thank you so much! It always feels like such a distraction when someone brings up that it's "just their opinion." Like, "I wanted you to listen to mine, but I don't want to listen to yours." It's so obvious that it's an opinion, why bring it up otherwise?
Always happy to commiserate with a fellow word brawler. ;D

Thank you, this is just what I was searching for!
Often undefended opinions are nothing but one-line dogmas, told over and over again without spending a further thought [brought to the extreme, of course].
I don't respect those. Don't think I should respect them.

You certainly shouldn't. People should never be given any reason to believe your first amendment rights end where theirs begin.

I wish there was a super fav option. I wouldn't say best stamp ever, but certainly the stamp I agree with most ever. I'm faving it twice in my mind.

I just had a discussion about this issue recently. I get pretty heated when somebody wants to flail their opinions around, but are totally unwilling to have them challenged. Maybe I just enjoy banter too much...

Yeah, I don't care for people who use the sanctity of opinion to shut down any conversation.

You are free to defend it however you like, but I can point out any weaknesses I find. ;D

Ok.

I believe bases are tracing.

I'll leave it at that and you try and defend against it.

Bases? Like the template I used? Fair enough. It would be better if I create my own, and it's certainly not beyond my abilities, but I think it looks better in people's journals on their profiles when there's a certain uniformity in the stamps they use. This uniformity is best achieved by using a widely available template.
I would have used another font from the one in the template, but I found this one is eminently legible, and that's what matters most in such a small format.

I hope that's what you meant.
