I think it would have exploded or something with a truth as strong as that...
I also think this is what everyone was pretty much expecting when she was singing that song.
I heard about the goddamn controversy last week in one of RebelTaxi's awesome Youtube reviews and went, 'Okay, this sounds new.' So I saw the episode and immediately fell in love with Adventure Time.
I see absolutely nothing wring with the subtext in the episode. In fact, if our speculation was true and they actually showed a gay couple in a positive and human context on a cartoon, it can only be a positive thing!
So if I ship ANYONE on adventure time, it's these two.
First off, it's adorbz! 
Secondly, the only other shipping I can do is either pedophilic or FPxF so I'm not full of options if I'm in a shipping mood.
Thirdly, this would be a huge step to a better society.
We need to teach kids that homosexuality isn't a taboo! I can't believe that people are complaining about homosexuality on a kids show, hell, IMPLIED homosexuality! It's not any more 'inappropriate' than HETEROsexuality on a kids show. Gay relationships are hardly purely sexual, are they?
They give the excuse of 'inappropriate for our kids' instead of what they REALLY think which is 'It's inappropriate for my own views for homosexuality to be on my TV in a positive light'.
So of course I got extremely pissed off with the people going against the subtext or pairing, despite being a quite straight girl who doesn't really like Yuri because of my views of it generally being portrayed in a sexist way - or, as I think, 'Yuri is something normally made, written or drawn by straight teenage boys for a boner'. I get annoyed when yaoi or yuri is made by straight people of the opposite sex to those inside it. I feel a boy hasn't got the right to draw Yuri nor a girl the right to draw Yaoi. But that's my opinion.
But this controversy caused me to go on some kind of personal equal-rights campaign, making me go all over the internet to look up other peoples views and discuss it, particularly since a friend of mine came out to some of us as gay recently. I fear that if she tells anyone else who isn't close to her or if it gets out then she'll face a load of homophobia and abuse. And I also have a few other gay friends as well. I don't know what abuses they suffer from their peers... people can be pretty evil.
Goddammit I'VE MADE ANOTHER SUPER LONG COMMENT. At 02:00 in the morning again too! I've got to refrain from rambling on, I did this yesterday to someone else. I'm sorry

Encourage your friend to simply be true to who she is. If being gay is a part of her she feels is important, then she should by no means be afraid of speaking about it. "People can be pretty evil", but they're also capable of showing great caring and love.

I sure hope so. I haven't seen much homophobic action in the grounds of my actual year group, though the year groups below us (who are on a different site altogether) are little intolerant assholes, so she will probably not suffer inside school grounds at the very least. In MY year people tend to insult each other on less sensitive things to avoid being shunned if they are publicised as a racist or homophobe or something. I know first-hand that my peers can be pretty horrible people, though they mainly insult people with condescending, patronising and graphic insults... they try and make people feel unattractive and stupid and are quite good at that.
Though this year everyone's been a lot more mature, there is more respect going around. So your statement leaves me with hope.

I actually would not have been surprised at that point if they started making out. I just saw that episode(first episode of Adventure Time since the show came out like, two years ago, so yeah first episode in TWO YEARS) and I could see the amount of total scorned lover angst the two had going on. Then Finn ruined it with his damn hetrosexual/pedophile relationship with the princess. STFU FINN! LET THEM MAKE OUT D<
