Description so based on a comment here .. someone reminded me that I have earrings that would be sweet to wear with the Vacuum Tube pendant. These of course aren't vacuum tubes - though they have that same "glass and metal" feel.

I'm going to be making a few this weekend for an upcoming steampunk /cyberpunk Swapmeet/sale here in Toronto on May 11th. The one's I'm planning with probably use hardware similar to the ones used in the chains of the vacuum tube pendants.

anyway, lots of fun. I've got them up on my etsy site here

Those are argon glow lamps. They need 350v to light up (purple), and they get too hot to touch when running. Not seen very often anymore.

sorry for the late reply - Its hard getting on sometimes. I actually got a bunch of vacuum tubes from a cousin of my dad's GF who did/does radio repair. Then i found a shop that had some in their basement.

I lurk around a lot of hardware stores (the Older the Better) and check out surplus. And sometimes, i will find a place that makes weird/interesting stuff - usually in Europe and order some.

What I really love about these earrings is that to your average person they would just look like a pair of dangly earrings, because most people don't pay much heed to these things.
However I'm sure that there's a select group of people out there that on seeing these would appreciate them for being something far more wonderful and intricate.

That's would I love about this whole style of jewellery

cool observation Slight! One of the guys here finally asked me about a necklace i was wearing and said: I can't help but think that has to be some kind of light! Then he was blown away by the fact that *yes* it was a light! lol

Oh, i love how you don't have to worry so much about metals matching.
That's a pet peeve of mine.

hmhm...
its funny cause for years and years I made jewelry - about 20. And all the time I would say (in my head) - oh silver with silver, gold with gold. Can't put steel with silver..
i feel liberated now. really

I love these, what a great idea! Hmmm, giving me ideas...

I like blending genres too, steampunk and dieselpunk mostly, but I like what you're doing with the steam/cyber.

thank you
we should email and stay in touch.. I have so few people I can talk to about steampunk/ dieselpunk/ cyberpunk... and then fewer who make the jewelry
