Description its been an age since i actually posted up a vacuum tube here! what's with that? i guess i fear that people might get bored with them, and that's why i rarely post up 2 photos of the same thing.

I'm trying to actually post a few things here that are up on etsy now.. it doesn't usually happen. This to me is quite Cyberpunk but since its been used by so many steampunks i guess it is a bit of both. this one is listed here: [link]
where there are a few more photos as well.

There is something really amazing about these wonderful vacuum tubes, and I've been lucky enough to get a few of this particular model with the fantastic silvery grid. Originally they would have been used in electronics - televisions, radios etc. Once they were even used to make computers.

I designed a "hardware" chain - using various bits of standard, modern hardware and some silvery link beads. I chose some silver tone hardware that echo the round hole in the grid. I also love this tube because of the coppery red colour as the wires go through the glass!

Hey. . . that looks kinda familiar! *looks down on neck* oh yeah
this is a bit different than mine though right? the metal is shinier. still love mine though ^^
you wouldn't happen to be working on some more of your clockwork pieces would you? those are some of my favorites along with the tubes ^^

hehehe ....nope quite a bit different really. Yours also has a grid (not all of them do) but the hole in yours are quite regular in size. This one is more like a screen... and has a different "getter" which is a plate in it.

Yeup! i'm working to get a bunch of new things done. Hopefully sometime this weekend. Usually it goes up on my etsy site first though - so if you see something there let me know first, k ?

I think the vacuum tubes are awesome, I was hoping to get some for a project. Where do you get such cool ones without logos and junk like most on ebay?

well.. you can scrub the logos off! All these had the logos - which tend to wear off anyway - so i scrub them with a wire brush.
taadaa!

i lucked out and got most of mine from a local man who had a bunch (and has some more when he finds them) in his basement. they were pretty gross so i had to scrub them anyway.
