Someone who hasn't played Oblivion and encountered Mr Lachance is going to get the wrong impression completely; taking apples from men dressed in black is a bad Idea boys and girls.For those of you who haven't played Oblivion, Lucien is an assassin, and not the cuddly nice kind either.
For those of you have, Is there a PA anonymous? and does anyone want to volunteer to try and make him go?
*update* now my most popular picture... must have done something right. have to work on composition more.

Despite him being far from nice person, that doesn't appear as a poisoned apple to me. I agree with the previous commenter regarding this. A very nice artwork, great job! I like how this picture is mostly greyscale with an accent on the apple.

Personally, I see this picture as Lucien giving the child an apple as an act of kindness, not because he's trying to poison him. In my mind, Lucien has some morals... but this picture is fantastic! I love your artwork!

I see this pic in so many ways. Its kinda like Lucien could be looking at the kid and be seeing himself, or the kid himself could be a memory of Lucien's childhood, or he did give the kid a poison apple out of sympathy or diversion...anyway these kinda pictures right here, are the very definition of art. They really get your head trying to grasp whats going on, yet you come up with multiple scenarios. Good job!

I always found it frustrating that it doesn't exist kids in Cyrodill, y'know?
The beggars are asking for money to feed their children, but they DON'T have kids!

I see this as a cruel irony. Lucien, a cold blooded murderer passes a starving child and in an act of sympathy, gives him an apple. Suddenly the child dies because of it's poison.
It makes me wonder if he is using the child as a distraction. The guards find the boy and look for the killer, while Lucien makes his way to the mark.

I play the assassin a lot and I tend to think of such distractions...Oblivion would NEVER let me get away with most of them though. XD

This reminds me of dreary days where the sky looks a sickly shade of pale gray save for the occasional muted glow behind the cloud-cover, and the world seems to have been drained of color. It could be foggy out, or maybe it's just about to pour. The constant shifting of the clouds may cause a darkening of the entire sky as the sun hides behind thicker cover. followed by a brightening as the layers wear thin and that day's weak sun shines through.
That's the atmosphere this image conjured up.
I can see Mr. Lachance letting restlessness from waiting out the impending storm overcome his professionalism and on a whim, handing a young and impressionable boy a poisoned apple. Probably having a chuckle to himself after emerging from the shadows.
