Description Character from my book.
It's not the way it looks. The fish has been dead for some time.

Ink and watercolour...

Immediately reminded of a Python sketch, of course.....

(paraphrased): "...And he used to steal it tasty tidbits, which it never ate; because, sadly, it was dead; and no one had had the heart to tell him, because he was so sweet and innocent and knew nothing of things like gastro-enteritis or plastic hip joints, or even Personal Hygiene.." 7@=Q

Reminds me of Faulkner's As I Lay Dying... Something about his mom being a fish...
I need to re-read that book...

Aw, I was hoping the fish was somehow magically able to live out of water...

Well done!

It is wonderfully done.

But a thought was floating in my mind when I saw it... My mother is a fish. I really hope you get the reference.

RosaGlorya I had the same thought. I have that phrase on a shirt; my mom won't let me wear it near her
It's a great illustration, they usually are.

Cool work here- I like the vintage look of this, and there's a bit of a surreal edge to this piece (a Victorian kid holding a dead fish- very original)

Ah! Robert from the Golden Compass - great! I'd love to see the fish looking a little more dried up and dead... but great painting.. that was such a vivid scene, it's interesting to see your visualization of it
