Your paintings always look like they have stories behind them. Do you write, or do these images just pop out of your head spontaneously?
As for this particular piece, I love the ambiguity in the child's expression. When I first saw his face, he creeped me out a bit, but the longer I looked, the more I realized that he could be either innocent or malevolent. Either way, it's intriguing.

I do write, but most of my picture don't relate to a written down story.
I always try to convey a certain atmosphere in my pictures and I always found that the atmosphere gets more intens if the viewer gets the impression that he just popped into a situation that started before he came to 'join in' and will continue when he looks away again. It kind of gives the characters a live of their own...

As someone else said, I love how you manipulated colour in this piece. The warmer tones on him ensure that the eye lands right on him.
Also, I would love to know the story behind the piece. It seems like a 'Big Brother' kind of society.
