Description The blue bolt hit Zerra square in the chest and for an instant she expected to die.  But instead of the pain of a phaser bolt a bubble expanded around her and she rose from the ground.  She kicked and clawed, trying to get away but that only sent her spinning.  She splayed all six limbs out and froze, and her rotation slowed and finally stopped, leaving her dizzy.  She was fixed in the very center of a faintly glowing orb and it seemed that nothing she could do could budge it or even reach the edge.  Any struggling she did only sent her spinning in the center.

"Simmer down, darlin.  You'll only stir your brains doin' that."  A figure stepped out of the darkness.
.
So the bubble gun is Rover's most used 'weapon'.  It's actually made for moving furniture.  But it's also perfect for immobilizing baddies.  It's perfectly harmless and wears off in fifteen minutes, give or take.  It can't be affected by the movement of the occupant inside.  Only an external force can move it and it only takes a tiny push to send it rolling.

Zerra belongs to   Heh.  I needed a character for the demonstration and she fit perfectly!  I'm pretty sure what we have here is a misunderstanding.

Nopers!

Better hope she calms down before you let her loose, but ... no promises given the circumstances.

Hey, it's nice to see Zerra again.  That's one of the most handy tools right there, completely demobilizes your foe and keeps folks from getting hurt.

chill13 In reply to PhoxnSparky [2019-12-21 15:31:33 +0000 UTC]

Yep!  I absolutely love that Alex made her.  She's such a cool character!

It is his go-to 'weapon' for sure.  He would rather talk a situation out than shoot it out.  An d this gives him a bit of a chance to do both.

That's right, it's always good to end something with words.

Thank you.  Rover is not a fighter.  But he does tend to get himself into a lot of trouble.  So this does come in handy.

I don't think Yaxar's going to be too happy when he sees Zerra trapped like this.

chill13 In reply to LucidSpaceUnicorn [2019-12-19 13:16:55 +0000 UTC]

No!  He is most certainly not.  I think we are about to have a big misunderstanding on our hands!

LucidSpaceUnicorn In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 16:03:09 +0000 UTC]

No doubt about that!

"Rover, what in the universe is going on here???" Amaril and Quartz stumbled upon the trader with a captured alien, "Do not tell me Gorzork sent another mutant after us!"

AlexVanArsdale [2019-12-19 03:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh awesome! You drew Zerra! She doesn't look happy at all. I can see her being very frustrated by being trapped in a bubble. LOL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chill13 In reply to AlexVanArsdale [2019-12-19 13:18:26 +0000 UTC]

Yep!  I really love those two characters.  They are so much fun!
No.  I don't imagine it's a cup of tea being in there.  I'm not quite sure what Rover's doing trapping her like that, but I'm sure he thinks he's go t a good reason.

Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 00:48:12 +0000 UTC]

I'd think it was a misunderstanding, kind of like the epic one with Klate and Krys. I wonder how this misunderstanding happened.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 00:51:04 +0000 UTC]

Yep!  Something like that!  I'm thinking at this point they are both assuming the other is the bad guy......who just might be lurking around the corner.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 00:52:36 +0000 UTC]

That would be pretty annoying to be fighting each other when the real bad guy shows up.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 00:59:09 +0000 UTC]

Heh...It would be kind of entertaining, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 01:02:57 +0000 UTC]

Or really bad depending on the bad guy.
Maybe the bad guy is Klate. That would be entertaining,

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 01:05:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh!  Wow!  That would be a crazy twist!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 01:10:11 +0000 UTC]

Yep. They were both after pirates. Rover knew one had long ears and was furry and shirtless, and Zerra knew that there was a cyborg with red hair.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 01:11:33 +0000 UTC]

Ooooooohh.. Oh, that's PERFECT!  And so TRUE!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 01:19:28 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Maybe the bounty sheet they found was damaged or something so important things like species, gender, and number of limbs wasn't listed.
I could see Klate and Krys walking in on the situation and being like, "Really, you mistook each other for us?"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 01:23:51 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha.  That would be quite the surprise for them, wouldn't it!?  They would be questioning their sanity and competence, for sure.

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 02:51:15 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Granted, Rover isn’t much of a bounty hunter.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 05:34:44 +0000 UTC]

No. He's not. Though he has dipped his toe into the profession a couple times.

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 05:36:16 +0000 UTC]

I could see Flyspur being like “this is the reason you shouldn’t bounty hunt.”

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 13:16:25 +0000 UTC]

Yep.  Getting your bounties confused is a big no no.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 15:01:42 +0000 UTC]

And then imagine Krys thinking Flyspur is a bounty hunter because she knows that one bounty hunter has four arms.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 16:22:18 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha. Ooh...and the plot thickens.

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 16:24:34 +0000 UTC]

I could just see her and Klate grabbing Flyspur and being like, "You're the worst bounty hunter ever."

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 18:46:30 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha. And he would probably be like "Believe me. This wasnt my idea."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 19:21:55 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it's a faulty ship they're all exploring and it picks up random info on the different people on the ship and spouts out things like, "Fury shirtless pirate with long ears." or whatnot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-19 19:56:37 +0000 UTC]

That would confuse things, wouldn't it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-19 20:00:03 +0000 UTC]

It might explain the incident. Like Rover and Zerra knew pirates have bounties, and they both heard some broken up descriptions.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-20 22:22:09 +0000 UTC]

Misunderstandings make for great storytelling because you don't actually need a villian.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-20 22:41:46 +0000 UTC]

They do. While I do like the good vs evil storyline, having cases of good people on both sides is a lot more interesting because you don't know HOW it will end. Like one book I really enjoyed was the Scorpio Races, where there's a horse race but the horses in question are a mythical water horse creature that is basically a flesh eating horse but sometimes instead of eating the rider, they drown the rider. It was interesting because it had two POV characters who were both in the race and the stakes for them winning were both high, so you didn't know who would win the race, and you didn't want either of them to lose.

chill13 In reply to Rebel-Rider [2019-12-20 23:03:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh! Wow. That would be an interesting race!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rebel-Rider In reply to chill13 [2019-12-20 23:13:55 +0000 UTC]

It really was. The main female character ended up riding a normal mare, while the male character was riding his flesh eating horse, which he could sort of trust. (But it still killed a man during the course of the book.)
