More of KT

A little information. KT actually stands for Kinky Tail. She has a strange sort of 'flick' at the end of her tail that makes it really easy to recognise her

Couldn't think of a title, so decided to write it in Sanskrit instead
But dA won't let me write the proper spelling, which is CitrakāyaαΈ₯

Did you use a Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens type of camera for this shot?

I am looking for a new camera to take close up shots of big cats. I like their eyes, so I was hoping for a camera that could capture the colors and details.

Hey,
Yeah, this was taken with my old D3000, but not with the 18-55 VR. I used the 55-200mm VR for this shot. If you're looking at getting a new camera for wildlife shots i'd personally recommend a longer lens, or you won't be able to get closer to the subject (the 18-55 is for landscapes and things like that, but as most people want a wider lens they sell it with the entry level bodies)
I'd recommend either:
- The AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm VR (I picked mine up 4 years ago for less than Β£150, so it's fairly cheap)
- The AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm VR
- The AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm VR

I'd also suggest trying to go for a slightly newer model than the D3000. It's still a nice camera, but things have moved on a lot since it was released. Maybe look at a used D5100 or the new D3200?

Hope this helped, and feel free to ask anything you want

I think it would have been nice if you'd moved over a little more so you had a little less of her face and more space for her to look into

She's beautiful isn't she?
They're so sensitive too. KT makes an amazing mother, and the cubs are just unbelievably cute

Heh yeah! That's her proper name, but the keepers decided to shorten it to KT after calling 'Kinky tail, dinner's here' one too many times
One of my friends there (who's a Cheetah keeper) calls her by some slightly more colourful names too if she decided to try and trip him up or something xD

I'll see if I have a photo of her tail..

Thanks Diago ^^

*flys at cheetah and hugs it* MINE I SAY ALL MINE!!!! the texture in the fur in this one is beautifully done! It makes me want to snuggle into it, it's just looks so rough and yet So soft. Those whiskers are beautiful!

I have no idea how you can post a comment that fast

My Cheetahs though
You can have one cub. Pick one

Thank you!! I'd love to stroke one too. Apparently they're really soft but still rough, so you got it in one

I know tiger fur is like sheep's wool!

I'm sorry but you can't have them all
Pick the male cub! He's the one that likes to jump on anything and everything, including biting mums ear and licking the enclosure glass

Oh wow really?!

Snowy-Ninja In reply to Chikrata [2011-08-16 14:31:45 +0000 UTC]

sounds like my dog i don't think i could deal with two boys like that
Yeah i herd it from a vet, tiger fur feels like sheep's wool or similar in texture because its both rough and soft
