Description First: I KNOW this is in the wrong category, however, due to the fact that this is a .gif, all the damn categories it does fit into will not accept it. I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do since Pixel art is the only thing I can find that will accept a .gif. Seriously, what's up with file types able to be submitted to certain categories only?

It's a cake, it's a tutorial, it's a reference, it's an animation, it's fan art, yet none of them will take it. I can't upload it as an .avi and that is the only other animation extension I know of in Jasc.

The steps I think are pretty self explanatory, but I'll just give a brief overview.

I figured that her body mass would be about 6x6 inches, so I went out and cut a board 10x10. I rolled out the cookie dough in an 8x8 square hoping it would spread as I wanted it to, and it did for the most part. Then I just started cutting the 9x13 cakes in half and started stacking them, putting a layer of icing in between each one. The shoulder area is a round 8x8 cake cut in half and stacked on top of each other. I carved down the cake to make it look like Hello Kitty's body. I'm not really a carver/sculpture so this was a bit challenging for me. Then I do a crumb icing cover. It's just a thin layer of icing that is all crumby and gross looking and this is supposed to keep the crumbs from surfacing to the top layer of icing once it has sat in the freezer for a period of time. Unfortunately, this didn't work as well as I wanted it to as you still see some cake bits in the top icing. The ears were evil. I should have frozen the cake solid before attempting to put them on so that there would be less crumb action in the icing.

The hands and bow are just piped on and I spread the eyes and nose on with a tooth pick very carefully.

This cake would have looked so much better in Fondant, however I can't stand the taste of fondant so I don't use it.

The smoothing process, which worked way better on the baby carriage I did the other day, is putting the cake in the freezer over night and then with a back of a spoon, smoothing out the wrinkles. You have to work fast with this because the icing will start to thaw and pull along fast. An extra pair of hands is recommended.

In the end, I had trouble getting her head on the cake on site. The two prong idea was a bad one. It just made it more difficult.

They loved the cake, so that's really what matters. I personally think it could be better if I have a do over, but this was absolutely a learning experience.

12 hours of cake decorating is exhausting , I'm going to go have a nap now.

Haha, well, I don't know about that, but often I'll help her to sort out her paperwork, and find little hello kitty doodles on her work...I often feel that our roles as mother and daughter are swapped, I'm always telling her not to doodle on her work
