I really had fun playing with backgrounds this week. You can see these islands off of the coast from San Francisco bay if it's not too foggy. I tried to capture some of that dichotomy of dazzling light and brown scrub that line these coastal cliffs and throw everything into this patchwork of false shadow and sparkle. Enjoy!

So everybody’s walking down to the renaissance faire on the beach, down a really awful attempted painting of some cliffs. I’m still fighting hard the 2d 3d thing in this episode, sorry. Will fix, it’s at the top of the list. Grant tries to explain why Xander forces everyone to join a gang as soon as they get here. It keeps the peace. So it’s basically like Los Angeles in this respect. Kore just wants to get to the nearest hangover cure she can find. And then Jones walks up and seizes Kore by the elbow in a way that makes Grant’s blood run cold. Yeah, that same grab happened last night. Now Grant’s second guessing who/what Esme is, because just look at those jeepers creepers she flashed at him. Kore’s super confused, she’s hearing Grant think, Esme is badgering her, it’s all mushing together into this irresistible current of noise and pressure, but Kore gives Esme an evil smile. If there’s manipulation and skullduggery to be had, she’s cool, no probs.

Synopsis:

Aging telepath Evil Overlord Xander has traded his youthful dream of joining the US military and using his superpowers to benefit humanity for over-the-hill cynicism, self-imposed exile on his private zoo-for-crazy-people Eynhallow Island, and a serious case of May-December midlife crisis. And technically it's only kidnapping if she tries to leave.
