thankyou very much, thats very nice of you to say so, yeah i agree with you, needs some more deformity in there!

heh... deformity. yes. that was exactly along the lines of what i was thinking. still excellent as it stands now though (not that you needed to hear that as a consolation; the excellence of it is plain and simple truth).

on another note, i can't imagine how hard it would be to pull off my original "idea" (deformity) without bringing a whole crew and practically playing the role of director for a few hours... maybe an experiment for the future if you ever find yourself bored/bored with photography or hard-pressed for new shot ideas

haha, well you just never know in this god forsaken world do you? One day i'm taking pictures the other i might be a hard pressed pimp on the streets of the bronx. Although...after that and reading back i find the chances of the latter happeing are pretty slim. But as you say, "an experiment".

an-excerpt-of-h In reply to chapterone [2005-11-01 08:41:14 +0000 UTC]

oh right, i should have assumed that the creativity flows from you like a wellspring of good intentions and complimentary ideas. i, on the other hand, am more like the pimp... hard pressed and traversing the streets of the bronx. anything with positive results are are certainly random and unintentional; experimentation is about all i have the time or patience for.

i'd say in this god forsaken world it's not so hard to calculate the likely odds of you taking my "advice" or coming up with something completely original and superb in an evening's worth of work.

chapterone In reply to xArsenic [2005-03-15 13:13:40 +0000 UTC]

haha sorry about that..didn't mean to scare that much.. it was taken in the out buildings of an old mental asylum near my house in an area called Gartcosh, just outside Glasgow. unfortunetly the place is demolished now so i was lucky to get this shot before it went for good. thankyou for the words, very much enjoyed.

This is beyond amazing, the way it makes me feel. I can only look at it for a second and then I have to look away. I wish this was a print so I could buy it

my word thats a lovely comment. and such a great reaction to the shot as well. thankyou...really.

ah alas its a scan from a negative and i'm just not that happy with the overall quality so that's the main reason why it's not a print...sorry.

great work. its very interesting how the person is "framed" like a million times, you cant focus much more on one single object/person than you have - its a tiny dark shape, and its 90% of the piece...

chapterone In reply to neekneek [2005-02-24 19:19:59 +0000 UTC]

thankyou so very much for that lovely, encouraging and very detailed comment. its lovely to get a comment at any time but when the person actually says why the shot has intreguied them then its all the better. i'm really pleased that you like this and took some time out of your day to let me nkow that you did. all the very best and take care, Ben.

the theatrical quote goes well - great shadows - it's symmetrical but not

spooky but somehow peaceful - to me anyway

I don't think the figure is something to be scared of

ahhh you know your the first one to think like that about this shot? very strange, its wierd how a different frame of mind can change a shot. thankyou Kelly.

gunshydaffodil [2005-02-12 13:07:20 +0000 UTC]

Ha! That's so sinister! The quote definitely adds to that. Shame they tore the place down, looks like it could've had more photo potential! I like how the top half is the dark part of the photograph and the bottom light.

heh, thankyou Daisy. yeah it was a great place, you can check out :devurbankhaos: 's gallery, he has been there with me before and he has the more grungy shots if you fancy seeing more. also if you go back into my gallery to the older shots there is a series called 'the asylum' - same place. and i have to agree with you on the quote, its one of those ones which always gives me a tingling sensation so even when the idea for the shot first formed i was thinking of it. seemed to fit. thanks again my friend.

honestly? i can't believe that. I think it's just common curtesy to reply to someone. if they have taken some time out of their day to send a message regarding your work then it should be easy to say a small thankyou in return. i have replied to every single comment since i have been here and that's even through a DD!, it would feel too much like i was sitting on my throne if i didn't, you get me? it must be annoying for massive artists like suzi and coxi, there's not much you can do to a million "wow's" that's why i'm grateful that i'm a small time deviant. you get to interact more. cheers mate for the words...this one's for you.---

I feel that dude. You are very timely with your replies too. Its not ike you come back a month later to say thanks. I, however, have messages dating back to beginning of january ...
Suzi and Coxi reply only to a few things. I know that both of them hit me back once for every 5 comments. Granted Suzi is more persistant while Coxi is overwhelmed with fame to the point where his minions reply to my questions that I pose in my comments. Thanks on the beer; have a .

Amazing! The black and white works wonderfully, the symetry adds alot to this piece, the blurness on the walls gives a feeling of "run". And then there is this anthropomorphous shape...

chapterone In reply to Fingathing [2005-02-11 23:53:06 +0000 UTC]

thanks my freind, really glad that you like it, it was taken at an abandoned mental asylum near by my house in an area called Gartcosh. i went back to shoot in this place again about a week later and discovered it was just a pile of rubble.. bugger. the large main building is still there though but there is contractors everwhere as believe it or not its getting turned into flats! don't fancy living there mch with that history. the figure at the end of the hall is just a guy in a cloak. cheers my friend.
