Page for my "Practical Visitor's Guide to the Labyrinth"
Painted in Photoshop CS5, using the film as reference.
About 5 hours of work.
The Labyrinth and it's Characters are © Jim Henson
The word "squig" is a reference to Games Workshop
This guide however belongs to me!!!

Sorry about the copious watermarks. They aren't going anywhere. Don't ask. I am SO proud of this project so far, and would hate to see any part of this turn up somewhere else.

Please note that I don't have time to say "thank you" for every favourite, but I appreciate them all nonetheless! Thank you all for your support!!!

Nippers weren't on my poll, but I always thought that they were pretty awesome. I've thought about building one... using one of those children's toys with the zoo animals that have opening/closing mouths as a base, but haven't had the time. I will be doing a page for the goblins that use Nipper Sticks at some point, although I'm not sure if that will be my next project. Didn't think I'd be able to come up with enough information to fill a whole page about Nippers... but I think I actually have too much! The page is so crowded with writing...
Nippers for the win!

About the "Practical Visitor's Guide to the Labyrinth" Project
I have handbooks, guide books, and field guides to a million different species of animal, and thought that it would be interesting to make one for the creatures of one of my all time favourite films, Labyrinth! The idea is to create a page (or spread) for the various creatures that Sarah encountered in the Labyrinth.

A Gallery Folder for all the pages can be found here: chaotica-i.deviantart.com/gall…

As a kid I always thought they were foetuses of goblin, they have the colour of hatchling birds. Either way this is a lovely information card!

I thank you for the visual reference! I am creating a life sized Nipper fully functioning puppet on the end of a pole to be used at the famous electronic festival Shambhala held ever August in Salmo/Nelson British Columbia Canada! The current trend of people sporting "Totems", (visual content of the end of a pole), that range from simply a marker that stands out above the croud, as a way for a group of friends to find each other, to more elaborate works of art ranging from a blown up head of a friend that could not attend, to the latest personal statement on a political subject matter. I plan on making the jaw of the Nipper open and close by the simple means of pulling on a string that runs down the length of the pole. It will kick serious ass!

This is so well done! Loving the 'fact sheet' format, and the illustration is wonderful! Never could get a good close-up look in the film...

Thank you! I have some great books about real animals that I've always loved. My grandma had this one particular volume about birds, we'd go for walks and find feathers and try and match them to the birds... tucked all the feathers inside as bookmarks. I wished that such a book was available for the creatures of the Labyrinth, and decided to put one together myself

What you're putting together here is so amazing... 'The Goblins of Labyrinth' is a fascinating book and a good reference, but I think what you're doing here is very different in format from that, with a lot more focus on info and consistent layout.
I know you can't really package and sell it, because that's the big catch with fanart, but it's a real shame, because I imagine a lot of fans would love a copy.

Thank you so much!
Wish I could sell it, but yes, it really is the big catch with fanart. At least I can share it here. I'm thinking of ways to stitch the book together when I'm finished in a reader-friendly format to post as a whole.

We-e-ell, you couldn't sell it, but is there anything to stop you making it into a nice downloadable/printable PDF?

A great page to the guide, are you going to do the goblins that hold these as well?
