This is actually done for a client based on his character sprite. but he just find reasons to delay the payment and run away. schatzen.deviantart.com/ His name is Jonard Allen Soriano , www.facebook.com/sirjonsorianoIf you see this artwork being used in any game, please let me know. Photo-bashed background for fun.
EDIT: Some people asked me about photobashing background.
Photobashing is the the technique used in concept art. It is to use photos as a base then paint on top, mix them up to quickly give texture/ realism/ details to the artwork.
The client didn't ask for a background, I just made it for fun so I didn't spend a lot of time 'painting' it.

An FYI: The arrow does not rest on the archer's fingers.
It's always on the inside of the bow, resting across the knuckles of the thumb and index fingers of the hand holding the bow. That keeps it stable.

First this looks beautiful! and your art is crazy good!
Second. I hate that i know this can't happen. a bow like that would have a draw strength of between 90 - 120 lbs. and it would need to be pulled with back muscles. Meaning no tiny little girl could pull the dumb thing. Ever since i learned this it has ruined this for me.
The female archer is one of the most laughably inaccurate stereotypes ever.

I think you are looking down on female archers in general, especially those Japanese archers (in real life I mean) XD Some are very tiny but quite strong as long as you practice enough.

Not at all, Just the stereotype. I've seen Female archers, and they are very impressive. I thing is with bows being a feminine weapon. I'm not say girls can't bows. just that it is very very hard.

I concur! I take Kyudo in San Fran and some of those girls have bows that have heavier pulls than mine. I start sweating after a few rounds while they're like "ho ho ho, poor Kuma~ You need more practice~!" and put me to shame afterwards. ;w;
My bow is only a 16kg pull
My sensei has a 35kg pull
Most of the females are 20kg, the highest being an Iranian girl with a 40kg bow

Fun fact. I've got a black belt, I can could spare against guys 4 times my size and win. But there was this one girl named dawn you i could never really beat. I'm not attacking girls here. Just the idea that a bow is more suited for a girl.
