The difference being: Those three links you posted? All, minus one, have upper breast-plate covers, or at least enough of one to keep from taking direct shots to the heart, also: they're not archers, they're swords-people... *whacks you with a newspaper*
Most ARCHERS back in the 1700s, and prior centuries, wore LEATHER, or heavy cotton with a layer of leather in between layers, if not to protect themselves from direct assaults, then to hide. True solo-archers would dress very much LOTR-style... with no cleavage/chest showing... most of these armors were dull and not so... superficially ah... appealing to the male sense of sex. There were also a LOT of women dressing as men in order to get into some combat whenever a conflict was about, as I have learned from history books throughout the ages.

IN the Bronze age many warriors from different cultures were almost naked , some of them completly naked i1.ifrm.com/2279/116/upload/p3… Even if in their time were already armors . Some of them kept their No-Armor policy , some for tradition , bravery or simply becasue they considered armors not worthy the encumbrance .
You and almost everyone is too centered on the vision of Medieval-Reinessance Europe but the Ancient World was much Bigger than that . You all people critizice Asian artists from depict warriors to exposed , but the Truth is that in most Asia only China had tradition of Armored warriors and even there most of them preffered Wear almost nothing for Maximun movility .
Even if that was in Asia in Europe the Celtic culture were mor or less the same , lots of warriors that preferred to go exposed for the sake of movility images7.alphacoders.com/396/39… .

Ask yourself: what era were the Elvenkind best known from? What era did this perhaps take place in? What sort of armor would a REAL archer-warrior wear?
Yeah, HUNTER-VILLAGERS went naked, so they wouldn't get their loin cloths dirty, when they masked their scents in dirt and such, not warrior-archers.
After the mass-Bronze age, most archers wore at least chain-mail, which although did not keep things from KILLING them, it at least helped catch and deflect.
Which countries are elves most known from? EUROPEAN. Elves were a "legend" created among the lower classes of european peoples to explain the Asian populace, as the Asians were still quite a ways off, and open trade with them was not well-connected, as of then, until the 1700s. Trade with Asia-major wasn't full-blown until the 1800s, when American naval vessels broke down Japan's quasi-solitude of their nation from the rest of the world. In ALL early renditions of Elven-lore back then, the warrior/archer elves wore human armor that was magical, compared to basic human armor, it is where we get the terms for MITHRIL armor.
Chain-mail is an armor that is very clothes-like, being that it goes just over a basic tunic, and can be used alone, or under a heavier armor, or with an over-tunic to preserve disappointment of the opponent when they tried to kill them. Chain-mail is considered a light-armor, and helps prevent arrows and some sharp blades from penetrating or cutting through and into the person. Used by nearly all infantry and many/most archers of the medieval eras, and was also used to combat small arms gunmen from killing via a shot to the stomach. Inefficient against larger calibers of weapons. Predates the KEVLAR vest-armor. Popularity with chainmail began to wane around the 16th century with the mass-creation of the RIFLE, with lead pellets usually too large to stop.
If for no other reason, most archers, of any era after the STONE AGE, wore animal leathers, and still do, when in combat, as it is maneuverable and light, allowing for more mobility, as well as causing vision to be inaccurate at-range for most, blending into trees and dirt. Animal-leather is washable and all you have to do is jump into a river to be cleansed.
You, sir, have just been schooled.

The Elvenkind belongs to the Nordic mythogy and they are described as Tall , white skinned , big round Eyes , and pointy ears , nothing similar to an Asian . Also they rarely wore any weapon , much less armor . The Elves with armor are the JRR Tolkien version that is Mixed with the Aesir , who were always Armored . The Elves sometimes made enchantments for Aesir's armors and Weapons but they almost never Forged them , The Dwarves forged most of Aesir's weapons . Elves were enchanters and wizards . And that is the Ancient Norse version of the Elves , the Germanic and Christian version of the Elves is even more different of what you described.
You say after Bronze Age Chainmail was common??? , Well maybe you need to Change your Sources (that probably are roleplaying games and Movies) .
Here you have some Historical Facts by the British Museum : " Few Iron Age warriors in Britain appear to have worn armour or any kind: helmets were rare, so too was chain mail. "
Article : www.britishmuseum.org/explore/…
Celtic and Germanic cultures in general were not prone to wear armors as historical evidence proves media.irishcentral.com/images/… . Modern elves design have a clear Celtic influence that's why they are show Unarmored so oftenly .
Some cultures were more prone to wears armor than another but more or less on every culture there was warriors that preferred the No Armor policy even in late ages .
You sir , should go back to School to learn to documentate properly , and seeing the expressions you use problably should back to the Kindegarten.

Such a great looking character too! What the hell do people even think when they do this! Fucking losers! A disgrace to say the least.
Also after checking out his page, I noticed something! Not only does he not have any sort of works to display, but there also isn't any sort of indication that he even uses that profile (no favorites, no comments)! You should always try to be careful and check for these kind of traits! This guy was probably just fraud to begin with! I'm pretty sure he's gonna try to use your work for some pay to play bullshit online game!

What do you mean by photo-bashed?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
chaosringen In reply to J-eno [2015-06-03 01:47:53 +0000 UTC]
It is a technique widely used in concept art where you put real photo into your work, paint on top most of the area to achieve realism, texture, details for your painting. If you don't paint on top and just use the photo, it will get copyright problem or look too real. As long as you only use around 25% of the photo and change the rest, it is acceptable. I bashed a few nature photos and paint/mix them together in this case.
