Among nobles she is spoken of only in hushed ridiculing whispers. She is given cruel names: The Lady in Drab, The Ragged Monarch, The Consort to Rats. But the ridicule and the contempt serve only to mask fear. She is the Mad Queen. Mad to have forsaken gold and riches in favor of a crown of bone. Mad to wander the streets among her most common people. Mad to resist power and control in order to favor compassion and justice. Mad to take the mantle of mother and take the firsts steps to mend a broken realm.

This is a points commission for of her character Queen Sandra Lockheart. I found this character extremely interesting and fun to think about and draw. From what I gathered, she is placed in a position of fabulous power and wealth only to give it all away in order to truly serve the people. Turns out it is a monumental task and she wishes no more than to disappear, but too many people depend on her so she stays bound to her duty. It seems like a great story to me.
