okay, here's the pencils for my Francine Castella vs. Poison pic. i'll have the inks soon enough. i'll admit, there's a bit of J. Scott Campbell influence here, but i hope i used it well. i'll include Poison's shirt Decal in my inks.thanks again to for creating these characters and allowing me to adapt them. hope y'all enjoy!

Level is relative, way too many factors involved to get hung up on that. i just draw what i see (this case is a little different, since it's made up characters, but i still had some reference). i think that's what sets artists apart from other artists. obviously, artists see certain stuff that others can't. and the more you notice, the more substantial your art will be, i think. thanx for the compliment, btw!

At this point I think it's safe to ask [link] for the shirt design on a flat image (same as he uses it on the 3D model) so we could just place it over her chest whenever it's needed. I know he wouldn't mind.

Oh, and the posing was a mix match of a bunch of stuff. Danger Girl stuff, Tomb Raider stuff, and Black Widow stuff. fortunately it all worked out!

Oh, you ain't never lyin' about that! Mike Turner has helped me out big time with a lot of stuff! (preferably female, if you can believe that.lol.) but yeah, i guess ur right about the bragging rights. right now, i'm just trying to out-do myself. You see, i have somewhat of a split-personality, and the two are in constant competition. a little weird at times, but it keeps things very interesting.

yea, he was supposed to be at the Pittsburgh Comicon that i went to. but his illness, (and yes, i believe it is cancer) caused him to miss it. heard he was in real bad shape. it beyond sucks. but if he goes, i can't imagine him having to many regrets. i say that only cuz i can't imagine myself having any if i were in his shoes. if i even had a month of the experience of doing what i loved for a living, i'd be alright (well, maybe more than a month). i had all my stuff ready to get signed by him too. he was the whole highlight of me going to Pittsburgh, just to talk to the guy and get his insight on how the industry works. but i digress. cool dude, hope he's still around to do more cool shit.

I printed Michael Turner's HEROES comic (the short story about Mohinder dealing with his father's death in NY) and I taped the six pages on the wall in front of my drawing table in order to feel inspiration an encouragement whenever I sit to draw. I see his work every single day because of it.
This has affected me more than I expected but more than anything it has made me feel an urge to make something more than "pretty pictures" for my enjoyment or pre-production sketches for advertising.
I feel now the urge to make something that matters. Something that people care about. Something that can outlive his creator an by God I will do so.
That's what I have to say.

yea, Soulfire. only read a little of it, but good stuff from what i saw. i've been gettin' into Talent Caldwell's (Gen13, Wildcats, etc.) and Dave Finch's (Moon Knight, X-men, Ascension, Aphrodite IX, etc) stuff lately. their pretty much contemporaries of J. Scott Campbell and Jim Lee in my opinion, Pretty much the forefathers of the modern industry.

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this. I'm glad you posted the pencils, I like both your pencils and inks. I'm currently writing the bio/stats for La Femme Punisher & Poison. Since you came up with the name Francine Castella, want do you think the real name for Poison should be?

hmmm... how 'bout... Hellena Haze? Helena with an extra "L" in there to symbolize her "devious" nature, and Haze to symbolize the "Poison-like Cloud" that she looms over her opponents, paralyzing them with hate and fear.
