This is quite fantastic! All of the loose brushstrokes up to the halo are really very appealing. I'm liking the little dashes of rust color here and there too.

the halo figures remind me of the peace figures you'd see orbiting earth in some pictures i've seen (illustrations) in the past. Someone mentioned cardboard cutout thoughts, that and/or peace on the brain is a very interesting concept.....

Although I would not presume to have a similar interpretation of the image than you do, this work speaks to me, in a clear, uncracked voice. I can think of no more noble halo, out of all the worlds of gods and angels, nor a more noble crown, out of all the worlds of princes and kings. Yet there is a melancholy in such beauty.

One word.. WOW.. The way you have used these paper-dolls that we all made when little, is so great, and the colour on the against the grey really brings life into the painting, and a contrast against the 'death' and sadness in the rest. The shading of the head, and the face is so catching.. the mood he is in..

I really love this piece; I'm a big fan of the loose brushwork contrasted with the clean halo. Great concept for the halo, too. However, I don't really understand the seemingly random hints of orange. They don't seem to be highlighting anything important or directing my attention to anything in particular. Bright orange against darks is a nice touch, but could it perhaps have been more well-placed?
