following orders is no excuse. people still have a free will. so what if there are consequences - if someone can live with himself after doing things like this, he's guilty.

A tad distasteful to be perfectly honest Joe.

I know.
Still less distasteful than showing what the Russians did in East Prussia or the Croatians in Serbia though.

So true man... I may dress in Wehrmacht gear but I don't support the idea of nazism or "social clensing". The majority of the Wehrmacht did this shit.

Thank you!

It is great to hear and see that the "it was only the SS!" myth is being dispelled more and more. This is a horrible part of history that needs to be marked and remembered; it was so bad not because it was one sub-section of a nation's military doing this, but the bulk of the nation-in-arms doing so.

It was also scary how 'normal' people were acting as killers and killers as 'normal' people back then.

I know people who would pay to be in the place of these soldiers. I wish I were just exaggerating.

Let's just say that reenactment attracts many people, and neonazis among them.

The really sad thing is this is fairly historically accurate.

Thanks!
Hmm... I was not sure about the belts anyway, but I remember my late granddad (who was a fan of German military, especially of the Imperial era) had a Wehrmacht belt buckle, and there was a swastika either on the front or on the rear side of it. If you are right (and I believe you are) then the swastika should be on the inside of it and I remembered it incorrectly...

Actually there is also a Swastika on the front, but it is rather small, being under the Wehrmacht eagle - and around it there's the famous Gott mit uns inscription. I didn't know about the rear swastika, though! Nice detail!

A terrible time in human history - the 20th century.
Good depiction though. An example of human herd behaviour.

It's not really a quote, and it's not really funny, IMHO.

Well, I find it is. Good drawing by the way, I need to draw more soldiers side by side like this.
