NEW! The original is on sale on etsy: www.etsy.com/it/listing/220913…

Dear sirs and madams, The Boar is finally available in English on lulu! www.lulu.com/product/a-coperti…
I still have to fix small problems (as to show the "download" button), but I've contacted the lulu support centre and I hope to solve it soon.

Here you have an illustration realized back in November 2009. A b/w version is included inside the comic book.

I like the expression on Richard's face a lot, he is so often depicted as having a very sour expression in fan art, I appreciate seeing something different πŸ˜ƒ

Thank you! Surely not every single one of his days was gloomy.

Good to see a depiction of Richard that focuses on his family life rather than the infamous stuff! And he's not wearing drab black for once! I like it a lot

I have always been a fan of poor King Richard. He really doesn't deserve his reputation.

There are already many more people talking about him after the discovery of the bones... let's hope they'll learn the revised story!

This is one good watercolor. Do you have a tutorial somewhere? What kind of watercolors did you use?

Anyway, I just read Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey- it's a fictional account of what really happened to the princes in the tower, but very convincing. I pity Richard; in a way, he became a Snape of all sorts. I like the way he's depicted here, as a loving husband and father. From what little I've read, he was good enough of both; it was only later they made up stories of him poisoning his wife, etc.

Hi!

I know Daughter of time very well; I've read it some six or seven years ago, and I've been a Ricardian for longer.

About watercolours, I use a Cotman palette (Windsor & Newton). You may find a tutorial here [link] but this image was made actually with a simpler process (just a few layers, no basis.)

thank you! This was an "easy" colouring, since the lineart was decided with ink. I tend to experiment more when I don't ink the lineart.

Veronika-Art In reply to cabepfir [2010-05-15 14:27:00 +0000 UTC]

What kind of ink do you use Ceci?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cabepfir In reply to Veronika-Art [2010-05-15 15:45:04 +0000 UTC]

Generally Windsor & Newton, because I can find it easily at the shop I frequent the most. But I'm sure there are far better inks around there!
Here I used a black ink, but I prefer dark brown, and still haven't found a dark browk which pleases me completely.

I simply love Windsor and Newton. I have a brown ink, but I don`t really like it, I have black too... I will begin using them !!! THanks for the info!

No problem!
Yesterday I inked 4 more little exercises with watercolour, it was very hard because the paper is rough and the nib didn't run fluently.

thank you I kept it in store for the distribution of The Boar in English, and finally the time has come!

Richard is always an ispiration for me, because I can so easily relate with his difficulties. He is a kind of *ehm* model for me.

He's a kind of a model for me as well. One of the few historical figures whom I shall faithfully admire for the rest of my life.
