thanks Ruth! it took me all day to get this shot! i've been trying to get a picture of this guy most of the afternoon but ending up scaring him off. then finally around dinner time i went back out with my camera because i had both the male and female out there. I waiting patiently near the hummingbird feeder and it didn't take long. the male came back and landed on my rose bush (or what's left to it) which was only a couple feet from me. so being patient really paid off in the end.

I've noticed that they are more receptive to me hanging around earlier in the day (or later toward sunset) mid-day they're not as hungry
