Awesome! I love your approach of this, especially the speculative crest feathers.Β

I've been inspired by the Seriema

That's cool. While they are most closely related to terror birds, I wouldn't be surprised if tyrannosaurs had that feature

In my view, juvenile tyrannosaurids of the age of Jane were no more tolerated by adults and their long snout and legs indicate that they hunted small and fast animals, occupying a different ecological niche than the adults, so that they didn't have to compete with the cannibal adults, just like monitor lizards. Also I think that the independent juveniles had a tendency to stay together to provide protection against predators, like modern iguanas, so a flamboyant plumage, then mostly lost in adulthood according to the new skin impressions, would be useful for communication

I perfectly agree with you. In saurian's perspective, when the juveniles are too big to take care of, they form their own group of 3-4 animals and take down the medium fast animals like ornithominids and rarely bigger animals like triceratops as seen in the montana dueling dinosaurs due to these animals having to eat around 60lbs of meat everyday per animal. My view of their niche is that hell creek fauna is most comparable to present day Yellowstone national park and that the juvenile tyrannosaurs would take up as the wolf niche preying on medium sized animals like deer and elk sort of with pachycephalosaurus and triceratops. They wouldn't need so much competition with dakotaraptor because their are few of these animals around in their area kind of like mountain lions. While I can't compare everything to hell creek to yellowstone, We can agree that tyrannosaurus exploiting different niches is one of major reason why it was the largest of tyrannosauriades out of all the other species weighing 2-3 times less Β

If only they could fix the T. rex model according to the new skin impressions, I know that Trey the Explainer said that it was still nearly completely accurate, needing only some adjustments, but Mark Witton in his blog has largely disproved this markwitton-com.blogspot.it/201β¦

They are, it's just that their main focus right now are to fix the bugs and the additional animals like the mosasaurus, the turtle, and the birds before they can focus their time on bringing forth more accurate dinosaurs in the future. The new tyrannosaurus model will definitely have less feathers, but according to Tom a researcher from saurian, a scaly rex is just as plausible as a feathered rex, but feathers will be more likely to occur than the scaly peach fuzz like ones. If anything, the feather placement would be similar to their old tyrannosaurus model, but more naturally colored unlike the blue and black cassowary like colors.

And just try to imagine how many changes in paleontology there will be in around 2 years from now, they could never finish it if they continue to change it again and again. I want accuracy just like you, but I fear that they are chasing an utopia

I can already imagine. They did update their triceratops and pachycephalosaurus and have them as 3D models, but they aren't going to use them until the final game comes. Tyrannosaurus is a huge challenge for them right nowe but dakotaraptor is the only up-to-date one out of the playable dinosaurs. I don't think they would fall into that utopia and probably instead keep a track on it until the time comes. 2017 is a huge paleontology discovery year from troodon not being a group of dromiosaurs anymore to borelapelta's discovery. Yutyrannus's and a tapejaridae's coloration as well as branching pycnofibres on the pterosaur will be revealed in a certain amount of time and that is only naming a few until next year.Β

I hope it will be soon finished, it will be very important for the general public perception of dinosaurs

Certainly, they still have a lot to do, but it is already very rewarding
