I have single Cthulhu minis available right now, actually, in a couple different styles [link] Or, indeed, any of the individual pieces for the chess sets I'm selling as singles.

As for the full chess set, I do have two complete (silver/copper and marble/basalt) but am a bit behind in getting the custom board done for it (first one was destroyed by bad silicone). I will have that complete soon, though!

It's a little of both. I do it mostly for the enjoyment, I do sell them too. (or else, the sheer volume of Cthulhus would take over my house and cover every surface!)

lol So lucky. Do you have a web site? Or do you just freelance over DeviantART? I'm kinda broke right now, but I LOVE all things Cthulhu and H.P. Lovecraft. Wouldn't mind knowing were to go for future reference.
