He was part of team Chaotix in Knuckles Chaotix for 32X, but they got rid of him when they brought the team back in later games. Would you believe tnat when Sega was developing the first Sonic game ever, Mighty was considered for the main character?

Wow, I didn't know that, but I'm willing to believe it.^^ Considering that Eggman himself was originally thought to be the main character as well, it seems that the making of the first Sonic game wasn't a quiet ride.

Apparently, there was a throwing-with-his-ears-rabbit that was set to be the new mascot of Sega. They really put all of their efforts and thoughts in creating a Mario concurrent.

This series just shows how uninspired and downright pathetic some of the official sonic designs have been.
Your redesign is actually identifiable as an armadillo and deserves the name, "Mighty", whereas Sega's
interpretation just looks like he'd be more at home in Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. The overall shape of
the character is nicely done and the perspective on that left hand in the foreground is fantastic. Great work!

Supposedly, Mighty was also an early design for Sonic before they decided to go with him being a hedgehog, which is why the two look so similar.
