Description This is one of the ships from my canceled Star Wars Fanfiction Series: Star Wars: The Shadow Wars.

Note: The information below is from my own universe which is a blend of old and new canon and is not to be considered canon in any other universe but mine.

The image was acquired through Star Wars: Empire At War - Forces of Corruption, using the "Old Republic At War" Mod.

Note: I'm not sure if the model of ship I used exists within canon. I've looked for it but haven't found a ship that matches it. So far as I know, this is a fan made model. It does resemble the Terminus Destroyer from TOR but there are some clear differences. Compare the image above with the one here on Wookieepedia to see what I mean (starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Termi… ).

The model was made by Warb-Null (www.deviantart.com/warb-null )

First launched in 26 ABY, the Mereel-Class Frigate is the first new Mandalorian warship design since before the Galactic Civil War and is symbolic of the Mandalorians' escalated remilitarization since the ascension of Boba Fett to the title of Mand'alor.

Drawing inspiration from the Imperial Star Destroyer of the Galactic Empire and the Venator Star Destroyer of the Grand Army of the Republic, the Mereel, like most other Mandalorian designs, is a lethal warship design. Armed with at least two mass driver cannons, four heavy ion cannon batteries, and banks of turbolasers, the Mereels are designed to go toe-to-toe with ships more than twice their size and still come out on top. The Mandalorians have made these ships even more deadly by featuring three gravity well generators, making them prime ambush predators for space combat. The Mereels can easily fend off fighter attacks but still can carry up to 40 starfighters in a dorsal hangar bay similar to those of the Venator Star Destroyers. Although formidable warships, the Mereels are often cramped and difficult to move around in, with many main corridors offering only enough room for two humanoids to pass through while standing side-by-side. And while called a "frigate" by the Mandalorians, the 900 meter long Mereel technically falls well into the threshold of a Heavy Cruiser (A heavy cruiser being between 600 to 1000 meters in length). The Mandalorians are impartial as to whether or not the Mereel is a frigate or a cruiser and it's not uncommon for the Mereels to be called either one.

The Mereel-Class is named after former Mand'alor, Jaster Mereel, who led the True Mandalorians against Death Watch prior to the Battle of Naboo but ultimately died after being betrayed by the Mandalorian Montross. Mereel had been the one to mentor the next Mand'alor, Jango Fett, father of Boba Fett. Boba recommended Mereel's name for consideration during the development process. The Mandalorians have proudly made the Mereel a main staple of their fleets.

Death Watch has several Mereels of their own, stolen by sympathetic Death Watch Clansmen. Most Death Watch Mereels are black with silver markings. Interestingly, Death Watch refuses to call these frigates by their given names, calling them Tor-Class frigates instead. Their reasoning is that Death Watch views Mereel as a traitor to the Mandalorians and that it was his "weakening" of Mandalorian culture that led to the creation of Death Watch in the first place. As such Death Watch refers to these frigates as Tor-Class, after the founder of Death Watch, Tor Vizsla. This has proven to be a useful means of rooting out possible traitors within both the Mandalorians and Death Watch, by casually mentioning the Mereel class in conversation to see who corrects or reacts negatively to it.

There is some significant aesthetic similarity between the Mereel and the ancient Sith Terminus-class Destroyer. The similarity is not surprising as the Mandalorians were aligned with the Sith during the Great Galactic War when the Terminus saw prominence. The engineers at Mandal Hypernautics were surprised by the similarities when shown the old Terminus, but in terms of armaments alone the Mereel could, to quote the Mandalorians "blow those dar'jetii hunks of scrap all the way to Malachor twenty times over before even having to reload.

Here's the thing though. I pulled up images of both a Terminus and this ship. They look similar but both have key differences. In the case of the Terminus, the hangar section on the dorsal side is open and the Terminus has a more inverted pyramidal underside. The model in the mod (this one), has a more solid dorsal section and a flatter underside. starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Termi… (Just for visual reference).

"So yeah it does..." ...what? Does what? I'm not arguing or anything, just confused.
