I'd love to make art in the future explaining the lore I had in mind for the comic. Believe me, the 60 page Google Doc of the full story script and the additional 20 pages of straight worldbuilding is really nipping at my heels to be talked about, LOL.

EDIT 14/9 2020: MAP HAS UPDATED! With new locations being introduced in comics and books and the script for my comic/AU being expanded and rewritten, I felt like it was necessary to update the map. Previously I felt like my map was a little too constricted, which is why with this update I wanted to make it a little more loose-fitting with more peninsula-like lands off to the west and east, and also hints that there's a possibility of there being more land beyond just this map (Farasi, Great blizzard barrier, other end of the Pranceific ocean, etc.). It's much less like a world map and much more of just a general kingdom map. This most certainly isn't all there is to this planet.
Obviously I don't really look much into wether all this is truly canon or not to the original MLP universe, I'm just building my AU based on whatever info I can find and I kinda pick and choose what I want to include. Doesn't mean everything is included, nor means it's necessarily accurate, it's just me expanding this universe because I enjoy it!

Also, sidenote: Hakoda is canonically named Casabronco, but since I already had a city named after Casablanka (aka Casaflanka), I couldn't really use the same city pun on two cities, hence the name change. Apologies for the confusion!

KEEP IN MIND: This is NOT official work, nor is it meant to be 100% accurate to all the known lore of the MLP G4 cartoon, comics or other games/media etc. I've used locations that have both been mentioned in the series and comics and given them a place on the map, and also locations I myself have created. But due to there being way too many locations to put on one single map (let's be real, the writers just like making city puns and doesn't think about the map-logic at all lol) a lot of them had to be left out on this map in order for it to work and to seem at least somewhat believable to a real map.

The multiverse that this AU of Equestria is in is heavily reliant on magic and powers beyond our imagination. Each universe is a copy of the other, which includes Equinox (which is one of the unlimited copies of Earth), so it makes sense for cities, landmarks and other settings to parallel locations in the other universes.
However, due to Equinox having such high amounts of magic in it, locations were from the start thrown a bit all over the place due to the instability between the borders of the universes when the Great Divide (Where all universes were cloned) happened. This was, and still remains, the canon reason as to why locations are in the wrong places. They're either in different locations, jumbled together, split apart or just flat out missing.
This is also not meant to be a map that embodies a full planet. Generally speaking this is a small part of all that you can find on this planet, embodying a PART of the world. There is more uncharted land beyond th borders of the map, and perhaps one day that will be explored further in my comic.
This universe isn't 100% functional and stable, and the comic will explore that further as well.

All canon MLP settings and locations are property of Hasbro, and I do not claim them as my own work. I'm just having fun. <3

A lot has changed in the history of Equestria. Going from a spiteful, introverted and tense rivalry between the three pony races, to a kingdom flourishing of hundreds of races and creatures living in harmony and happiness with one another.

In the beginning of the lifespan of the modern pony species, two tribes made up of Earth ponies and Pegasi surrounded the kingdom of Unicornia, a unicorn-populated land which had advanced much further in their development as a race, compared to the other smaller tribes of earth and pegasi. They kept themselves split apart from the others, only caring for their own welfare and not for what befell the other tribes. They saw themselves as more important, higher up and more valuable than the others because of their magical prowess.
These tribes did depend on one another, as the land of Unicornia depended on the farms of the Earth ponies for food and the weather cycles of the Pegasi for the seasons, and in return the other tribes were allowed to stay within their kingdom and live under their protection.

Despite being unbalanced and unfair, it was the life they had to deal with. And it was somewhat sustainable up until the windigos attacked.
Their kingdom grew, but the two opressed tribes began growing spiteful. The unicorns began to abuse their power over them more and more, becoming demanding and unbearable.
All that tension and rivalry between the tribes was only becoming worse as a giant blizzard struck their kingdom. Princess Platinum, the princess of Unicornia, blamed the pegasi for this blizzard, calling it a coordinated attack. Commander Hurricane, the leader of the pegasi, defended his tribe by stating this blizzard was beyond their control. Chansellor Puddinghead, the leader of the Earth ponies, fired back against the unicorns and pegasi stating that they had been slacking with their seasonal control, now dooming all three tribes to starve due to the now frozen farmlands.
This hatred only made the windigos stronger as they fed off of their feuds, causing the blizzard to grow fierce. As they couldn't take it anymore, they decided to try and migrate to new lands to avoid this blizzard. However their feud only followed them along the way, as did the windigos.

This new land was ruled by two strange winged unicorns, and it was Beautiful. It was the paradise they were looking for and it wasn't populated by anyone else except two weird ponies they could probably easily get rid of. But, as the tribes migrated, its beauty was quickly ruined by the snow and frost that followed them.
The two winged unicorns, named Aetheria and Terras, were the creators of the very land they now stand on. They welcomed the tribes with open arms but warned them that if they did not get rid of their cursed blizzard, they couldn't stay for long. They stated to be a new race of ponies called "Alicorns", saying that they were willing to help but only if they cooperated with them. They were the King and Queen, and wanted to populate their kingdom.

The tribe leaders were furious. Who are they to claim they are King and Queen! The unicorns wanted to take over this new kingdom and make these two strange ponies step down, not realizing what they even were. I mean, what kind of unicorn would EVER wanted to have the wings of a PEGASUS?
The Earth and pegasi countered it by wanting their own place in their kingdom, with their own lands and their own rules, stepping up against the unicorns oppressive regime.
The two alicorns were getting increasingly worried by the lack of communication, as they both knew it was the windigos that were causing the blizzard and were feeding off the ponies' hatred, but nopony would listen to them. They had never directly interacted with regular ponies before, and were worried they had to abandon them, not knowing how to make them listen. They continued to worry, up until three lone ponies from the three tribes approached them.

Clover the Clever of the unicorns, Private Pansy of the pegasi and Smart Cookie of the earth ponies managed to get close to the two, explaining their situation and asking for help. They knew by the alicorns' tall figures, magical prowess and titles that they were the True rulers and believed their story, and they needed their help to solve their situation before the blizzard would eventually claim all of their lives. The three ponies had also figured out that the windigos were behind all of it, and knew they had to get rid of them, asking where they came from.
Aetheria explained that the windigos were winter spirits, a frost-controlling phantom that were some kind of miscreation that rarely appears during the creation of clouds, that were made up of winds and magic. She knew how to get rid of them, but needed help. The five eventually hatched a plan.

With their help, Aetheria and Terras could finally show their power by using the strong friendship of Clover, Pansy and Cookie to create the Fire of Friendship. This fire caught the attention of the tribes, as the blizzard was wiped away in a flurry of magic flames, and the windigos being revealed as the culprits. The windigos were banished and the five heroes emerged. At first, the three tribe leaders were terrified of the alicorns, believing they had mind-controlled their suboordinates into joining their side. Terras dismissed their claim with a hearty chuckle, instead praising the three ponies by his side for their help. They had shown the two alicorns that ponies can live together, and shouldn't be given up on. They thought all ponies were just hateful and xenophobic by nature and couldn't be controlled, but the friendship of Clover, Pansy and Cookie proved them wrong.
The three tribe leaders all realized their errors, and decided to finally set aside their feuds. All three took a bow infront of the alicorns, accepting them as their new King and Queen, thanking them and their suboordinates for saving their lives, begging them to accept them into their kingdom.
Aetheria, being the Guardian of the Aether, had kept an eye on Princess Platinum and her unfair system of rule in Unicornia. She was harshly criticized, but Aetheria was willing to forgive her if she agreed to accept the other two races as her own, and not as her slaves. Platinum was hesitant, but had realized how badly she had treated her kingdom and it's non-horned inhabitants. She was willing to accept any punishments that came her way, and stepped down to accept all three tribes as Equal.

With the help of the growing bond between the three tribes, they merged together and helped rebuild their kingdom in this new location. Unicornia was no more, as their new place of residence was ruled by King Terras and Queen Aetheria, who named their new kingdom Equestria.

Today, things have grown significantly. Despite everything that has happened to the royal alicorn family (see family tree for their story), Celestia and Luna are watching over a prosperous and bright kingdom. Equestria's borders have grown in mass, and the neighboring kingdoms have barely had any feuds and have avoided many conflicts and sometimes full-blown wars with the help of princess Twilight. The kingdom has become much more inclusive, with many cities who used to be only pony-populated now being filled with many creatures from all over the land.

Kingdoms who used to be isolated and solitary are slowly but surely opening their arms and going outside their walls to greet others. These include kingdoms such as the moose of Hailberg, the hippogriffs of Mt. Aris, the dragonkins of the three lairs, the perytons of Peryton Peaks, the sealions of Aquastria, the Camels of Ng'amia, the Abadi of Farasi, and many more.
The hippogriffs have started to take more control over the south, and even made the Storm King's old lair their new colony besides Mt. Aris. The Basalt Beach is now a common place for hippogriffs to roost, with some building their new homes there on the lower rocks in order to be close to their seapony friends.
At first, the seaponies were cautious with venturing out into the open seas to look for more areas to colonize, considering the majority of the seas are under the rule of King Leo, the king of the Sealions. Though luckily, with some peaceful meetings and back-and-forth messaging, the sealions are now on good terms with the seaponies. Even the gigantic sea serpent Maelstrom, that guards the border of Aquastria, allows seaponies to enter their underwater city.
At times some seaponies visit Shire Lanka, often trading their home grown kelp for other wares. They've also been known to trade with nearby places like Southstock, another trade-heavy seaside town.

Many areas in the southern hemisphere are dependant on trading, such as one of the largest ever cities known to all of Equestria and Beyond; Aashtethos. Aashtethos is a massive city, and a very noteable landmark. It carries a population that rivals all of Canterlot and Manehattan combined, and is home to dragons, zebras, giraffes, horses, parrots and even some cats that came all the way from Abyssinia.
Aashtethos is built on rank, where the further up the hill you live (The more towards the center palace) the wealthier you are. Those who live back to back with the wall are broken, with many being poor and crowded, and in some cases homeless. The middle-ish is more "average", where they hold smaller jobs like shops, have homes and just live normal lives. In the circle around the palace in the middle are the wealthy, who have more than enough money to sustain themselves. And in said middle lives the highborn Royalty such as the Empress of Aashtethos.
The city is one of the oldest on the planet, with early records and artifacts dating back even before the founding of Equestria. Back then, Queen Parabola ruled this city. The Emperors and Empresses are all descendants of Parabola, and Parabola is a highly respected and worshiped figure even today.
The city has become known for its spices and beautifully crafted jewellry which has gained a ton of popularity up north. It's also known for its rare, smooth silk clothing.

Another southern city is the kingdom of Ng'amia, which houses the largest and seemingly only native population of camels and elephants. Ng'amia is known for being massive and easily recognicable by those two large mountains representing the humps of a camel. It's scorching hot, it's dry, but also absolutely beautiful. Ng'amia isn't also jsut the homes for camels and elephants, as there are plenty of sealions that come to visit and trade wares in the canal that passes through. Plus, it houses plenty of cats, diamond dogs, zebras, antelopes, and a large variety of animals.

While many new races are being introduced to the mainland, some seem to have unfortunately become forgotten and are considered extinct by many experts in the field. Races such as the Kirins of Romore are a good example.
Nobody really knows what happened to the kirins. Some aren't even sure if they existed in the first place. Their home, Romore, is rumored to be located near the tail end of the Jackalope Slopes, but so far the expeditions have only resulted in injury or disappearance. Attempting to explore the suspected area of Romore won't do you much, as the barrier of clouds are so thick and filled with thunder that it's simply impossible to cross through. Not to mention the extremely sharp and steep bladerocks, making even the most skilled mountaingoats cower in fear.

Perytons are another race that have been suspected to be extinct, but unlike the Kirins, the Perytons have recently been confirmed to still be around. Their cave-dwelling homes in the appropriately named Peryton Peaks are so well-disguised in the mountainside that not even griffons with their phenomenal eyesight have been able to spot it. However, some innocent mountainclimbers who were looking for shelter from heavy rainfall, discovered on of their holes in the mountain and decided to seek shelter. What they discovered, however, was a skillfully crafted system of caves and tunnels all connected like some form of anthill, and in the very center cave were the Perytons.
The perytons were very defensive and frightened by the visitors, and looked as if they had never seen daylight in a thousand years. After explaining what they were here for and saying they were not dangerous, the perytons hesitantly explained their situation.
The perytons used to be a proud, strong and prosperous race, but that quickly changed when Nightmare Moon took over the rule, preventing the sun to rise and keeping her eternal night for days. The perytons are dependant on sunlight, so when the sun never rose again, they grew weak and scared and assumed the world was ending, sealing themselves in inside their caves by their paranoia never to return. There, they had stayed for a thousand years, dwindling away in their own time-consuming fear, not knowing how much time had passed.
Now, when they've been re-introduced to the overworld, they're slowly but surely recovering from their paranoia and introverted nature. Progress is slow, but baby-steps are better than no steps.

Towards the far west you will find Farasi: the home of the Abadi. Farasi is a beautiful land filled with bountiful greenery and landscapes, that also houses a large population of kelpies and zebras. Zebrat in particular is Farasi's capital with a decent population that is on very good terms with Aashtethos, Istanbull, Djenneigh and Hakoda. These five cities form a tight bond, calling themselves the Phoenix Five with Aashtethos spearheading their alliance.

Natural disasters happen every now and then, and while they're destructive, they're fortunately very rare. However when they do happen, it can cause long-lasting effects on their surroundings, some even being permanent.
The example that many go back to is Hurricane Cosmos. Cosmos was a category 4 hurricane that came from over Hailberg and North Luna ocean heading east over Seaward Shoals, Vanhoover and Tall Tale, continuing over Stratusburg and Cloudsdale before changing course up North. It eventually disbanded due to pegasi stormtamers before reaching the Crystal Empire. Devastating damage happened along the way, especially to Cloudsdale, and it took many painful hours to dispand the storm.
Cloudsdale ended up straight in the crossfire of Hurricane Cosmos. The entire floating city was devoured in its path, claiming many lives and harming many others. Their homes were gone and were unable to be salvaged, so the residents of Cloudsdale had to move to other places. Many took residence in places like Stratusburg, Canterlot, Ponyville and Vanhoover, with some others going further south to places like Baltimare and Las Pegasus. Even today Cloudsdale is plauged by constant rainfall and unstable cloud formations, that even the most skilled weatherponies can't fix.

The story of Graymourne isn't one that will make many that happy. Today that old city lays dormant and untouched, with the streets and houses covered in trees and vegetation. But well over a thousand years ago, it was one of the most significant cities of the East. Ruled by Prince Orion and his wife lady Sakura, which was later passed on to their children Princess Aurora and Prince Atlas, Graymournes population quickly grew in numbers and was well known for its pristine living conditions of their time.
But, as the story goes, it never managed to last forever. With the death of Orion and later on the successful assasination bombing of Atlas and Aurora, Graymourne was left dormant. The people had no ruler, and the city was plauged by poverty and depression. Soon enough, the people either fled to other locations or stayed and withered in their old homes.
The one location that some Graymournians fled to was a new, tiny, stone-built village they named Cobblerock. Tucked away inside Sugar Maple Grove, the village was comfortable and cozy, and it managed to stay afloat even without any rulers. The ponies that live there are mostly introverted and shy, but are very humble and welcoming to passing by travelers. Sometimes they're visited by wandering reindeer, coming from up north. In the desolate wild lays Tundra, the home of the reindeer, who are normally very reclusive and proud but have a close connection with Cobblerock and its inhabitants, knowing what had happened to their people so many years ago. Graymourne was the home to many reindeer as well, giving Cobblerock and Tundra a mutual respect for one another.
Other times they get visitors from nearby places like Griffonstone and Trotsylvania, as well. While not as closely connected with one another like with Tundra, they sometimes share some trades and resources with each other.

Despite the old Pegasi, Earth and Unicorn tribes now being gone, one of the oldest known tribes that are still around today are the Hitchocki. Located down south to the west of Klugetown, the Hitchocki tribes have been around since well before the founding of Equestria. They're a free-spirited people made from all kinds of races such as earth ponies, horses, gazelles, antilopes, wildebeasts, rams and ibex. They use ancient magic that they harness from the crystals in their mountains and in the ground, which allows them to be one with their nature and have connections to their ancient forefathers.
They're made up of six villages; The Runners, Defenders, Crawlers, Walkers, Hunters and the Guardians. All six have their own individual tasks, ensuring that they all work together with one another in order to survive.
Unfortunately, the recent invasion of the modern ponies have forced these tribes to be pushed back into their mountains. The mining for minerals in their mountains and the urbanisation of their land have forced the Hitchocki to hide out more and more, and many experts say that if nothing is done, their entire tribe could inevitably die out.

Another pony tribe that had been kept isolated from the mainland are the Thracians. Much to anyone's surprise, the Thracian tribe are a fourth pony race alongside earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns, that share the looks of earth ponies but posess canine teeth and a hunger for flesh; some even rumored to be able to breathe fire. King Thrace was there when the Windigos attacked, looking for shelter and a place to call home. The unicorn, pegasi and earth ponies had bonded and put their differences aside to form Equestria. However when king Trace arrived, he wasn't greeted with warmth or charity; these so-called "friends" left him out in the cold. King Thrace, struck with frustration and spite, marched onwards and lead his people to a new place. They claimed an island far off to the north east and named it Thrace.
Today the kingdom remains isolated and their hatred for Equestria's hostility burns on, hoping that one day the current king, King Diomedes, may take over the throne and rule all. However there have been a handful of defectors spotted around Equestria and beyond that have gotten fed up with the hostile and confrontational nature of Thrace, hoping to learn what friendship is about.

While the Equestria that we know and love today is a wonderful place, there are still some obstacles that are present here and there. For example, there are a small minority of unicorns who still cling on to their ancient kingdom of Unicornia. They claim that their magic-based selves are much more higher up and important than the other races and detest the opening of the barriers even to their fellow Earth ponies and Pegasi, claiming that they should rebuild Unicornia. They believe the magic and power of unicorns is vastly superior to any other magic/creature known to ponykind, and that their magical abilities could help build a better, more sustainable kingdom that can allow modern technology and infrastructure to flourish.
These xenophobic views are shunned and rejected by the vast majority of the population, and it's one of princess Twilight Sparkle's top priorities to ensure it stays that way.
Princess Cadance is doing her best to help keep Equestria happy as well, with making sure that anycreature is allowed to love whoever they want, despite what other bigoted ponies might think. These Unicornia-admirers and some others close by in their circle deject the relationships between two different races, believing that anyone should only love someone of their own kind. Griffons should love griffons, ponies should love ponies, zebras should love zebras and so on. Clearly, these views aren't very well received by the majority either, and Cadance as the princess of Love have proven time and time again that anycreature is allowed to love whoever they may choose, no matter the race.

The four princesses make sure to keep the peace within their own kingdom together with their neighboring lands. Despite the issues and feuds along the way, nothing has so far managed to overthrow their world permanently.

Nothing will. Right?

QUICK NOTE: In this AU, the Kirins that are present in the cartoon are not Canon, and the Peaks of Peril does not exist.
I created my version of the kirins prior to the premiere of that episode which introduced Kirins into the show, and when I first saw that episode I honestly couldn't be bothered to change my map and story all over again. In this AU Kirins are much more mythical and mysterious, with some being unsure wether they were ever real to begin with.

Chansellor Puddinghead, the leader of the Earth ponies, fired back against the unicorns and pegasi stating that they had been slacking with their seasonal control, now dooming all three tribes to starve due to the now frozen farmlands.
This hatred only made the windigos stronger as they fed off of their feuds, causing the blizzard to grow fierce. As they couldn't take it anymore, they decided to try and migrate to new lands to avoid this blizzard. However their feud only followed them along the way, as did the windigos.

This new land was ruled by two strange winged unicorns, and it was Beautiful. It was the paradise they were looking for and it wasn't populated by anyone else except two weird ponies they could probably easily get rid of. But, as the tribes migrated, its beauty was quickly ruined by the snow and frost that followed them.
The two winged unicorns, named Aetheria and Terras, were the creators of the very land they now stand on. They welcomed the tribes with open arms but warned them that if they did not get rid of their cursed blizzard, they couldn't stay for long. They stated to be a new race of ponies called "Alicorns", saying that they were willing to help but only if they cooperated with them. They were the King and Queen, and wanted to populate their kingdom.

The tribe leaders were furious. Who are they to claim they are King and Queen! The unicorns wanted to take over this new kingdom and make these two strange ponies step down, not realizing what they even were. I mean, what kind of unicorn would EVER wanted to have the wings of a PEGASUS?
The Earth and pegasi countered it by wanting their own place in their kingdom, with their own lands and their own rules, stepping up against the unicorns oppressive regime.
The two alicorns were getting increasingly worried by the lack of communication, as they both knew it was the windigos that were causing the blizzard and were feeding off the ponies' hatred, but nopony would listen to them. They had never directly interacted with regular ponies before, and were worried they had to abandon them, not knowing how to make them listen. They continued to worry, up until three lone ponies from the three tribes approached them.

Clover the Clever of the unicorns, Private Pansy of the pegasi and Smart Cookie of the earth ponies managed to get close to the two, explaining their situation and asking for help. They knew by the alicorns' tall figures, magical prowess and titles that they were the True rulers and believed their story, and they needed their help to solve their situation before the blizzard would eventually claim all of their lives. The three ponies had also figured out that the windigos were behind all of it, and knew they had to get rid of them, asking where they came from.
Aetheria explained that the windigos were winter spirits, a frost-controlling phantom that were some kind of miscreation that rarely appears during the creation of clouds, that were made up of winds and magic. She knew how to get rid of them, but needed help. The five eventually hatched a plan.

With their help, Aetheria and Terras could finally show their power by using the strong friendship of Clover, Pansy and Cookie to create the Fire of Friendship. This fire caught the attention of the tribes, as the blizzard was wiped away in a flurry of magic flames, and the windigos being revealed as the culprits. The windigos were banished and the five heroes emerged. At first, the three tribe leaders were terrified of the alicorns, believing they had mind-controlled their suboordinates into joining their side. Terras dismissed their claim with a hearty chuckle, instead praising the three ponies by his side for their help. They had shown the two alicorns that ponies can live together, and shouldn't be given up on. They thought all ponies were just hateful and xenophobic by nature and couldn't be controlled, but the friendship of Clover, Pansy and Cookie proved them wrong.
The three tribe leaders all realized their errors, and decided to finally set aside their feuds. All three took a bow infront of the alicorns, accepting them as their new King and Queen, thanking them and their suboordinates for saving their lives, begging them to accept them into their kingdom.
Aetheria, being the Guardian of the Aether, had kept an eye on Princess Platinum and her unfair system of rule in Unicornia. She was harshly criticized, but Aetheria was willing to forgive her if she agreed to accept the other two races as her own, and not as her slaves. Platinum was hesitant, but had realized how badly she had treated her kingdom and it's non-horned inhabitants. She was willing to accept any punishments that came her way, and stepped down to accept all three tribes as Equal.

With the help of the growing bond between the three tribes, they merged together and helped rebuild their kingdom in this new location. Unicornia was no more, as their new place of residence was ruled by King Terras and Queen Aetheria, who named their new kingdom Equestria.

Today, things have grown significantly. Despite everything that has happened to the royal alicorn family (see family tree for their story), Celestia and Luna are watching over a prosperous and bright kingdom. Equestria's borders have grown in mass, and the neighboring kingdoms have barely had any feuds and have avoided many conflicts and sometimes full-blown wars with the help of princess Twilight. The kingdom has become much more inclusive, with many cities who used to be only pony-populated now being filled with many creatures from all over the land.

Kingdoms who used to be isolated and solitary are slowly but surely opening their arms and going outside their walls to greet others. These include kingdoms such as the moose of Hailberg, the hippogriffs of Mt. Aris, the dragonkins of the three lairs, the perytons of Peryton Peaks, the sealions of Aquastria, the Camels of Ng'amia, the Abadi of Farasi, and many more.
The hippogriffs have started to take more control over the south, and even made the Storm King's old lair their new colony besides Mt. Aris. The Basalt Beach is now a common place for hippogriffs to roost, with some building their new homes there on the lower rocks in order to be close to their seapony friends.
At first, the seaponies were cautious with venturing out into the open seas to look for more areas to colonize, considering the majority of the seas are under the rule of King Leo, the king of the Sealions. Though luckily, with some peaceful meetings and back-and-forth messaging, the sealions are now on good terms with the seaponies. Even the gigantic sea serpent Maelstrom, that guards the border of Aquastria, allows seaponies to enter their underwater city.
At times some seaponies visit Shire Lanka, often trading their home grown kelp for other wares. They've also been known to trade with nearby places like Southstock, another trade-heavy seaside town.

Many areas in the southern hemisphere are dependant on trading, such as one of the largest ever cities known to all of Equestria and Beyond; Aashtethos. Aashtethos is a massive city, and a very noteable landmark. It carries a population that rivals all of Canterlot and Manehattan combined, and is home to dragons, zebras, giraffes, horses, parrots and even some cats that came all the way from Abyssinia.
Aashtethos is built on rank, where the further up the hill you live (The more towards the center palace) the wealthier you are. Those who live back to back with the wall are broken, with many being poor and crowded, and in some cases homeless. The middle-ish is more "average", where they hold smaller jobs like shops, have homes and just live normal lives. In the circle around the palace in the middle are the wealthy, who have more than enough money to sustain themselves. And in said middle lives the highborn Royalty such as the Empress of Aashtethos.
The city is one of the oldest on the planet, with early records and artifacts dating back even before the founding of Equestria. Back then, Queen Parabola ruled this city. The Emperors and Empresses are all descendants of Parabola, and Parabola is a highly respected and worshiped figure even today.
The city has become known for its spices and beautifully crafted jewellry which has gained a ton of popularity up north. It's also known for its rare, smooth silk clothing.

Another southern city is the kingdom of Ng'amia, which houses the largest and seemingly only native population of camels and elephants. Ng'amia is known for being massive and easily recognicable by those two large mountains representing the humps of a camel. It's scorching hot, it's dry, but also absolutely beautiful. Ng'amia isn't also jsut the homes for camels and elephants, as there are plenty of sealions that come to visit and trade wares in the canal that passes through. Plus, it houses plenty of cats, diamond dogs, zebras, antelopes, and a large variety of animals.

While many new races are being introduced to the mainland, some seem to have unfortunately become forgotten and are considered extinct by many experts in the field. Races such as the Kirins of Romore are a good example.
Nobody really knows what happened to the kirins. Some aren't even sure if they existed in the first place. Their home, Romore, is rumored to be located near the tail end of the Jackalope Slopes, but so far the expeditions have only resulted in injury or disappearance. Attempting to explore the suspected area of Romore won't do you much, as the barrier of clouds are so thick and filled with thunder that it's simply impossible to cross through. Not to mention the extremely sharp and steep bladerocks, making even the most skilled mountaingoats cower in fear.

Perytons are another race that have been suspected to be extinct, but unlike the Kirins, the Perytons have recently been confirmed to still be around. Their cave-dwelling homes in the appropriately named Peryton Peaks are so well-disguised in the mountainside that not even griffons with their phenomenal eyesight have been able to spot it. However, some innocent mountainclimbers who were looking for shelter from heavy rainfall, discovered on of their holes in the mountain and decided to seek shelter. What they discovered, however, was a skillfully crafted system of caves and tunnels all connected like some form of anthill, and in the very center cave were the Perytons.
The perytons were very defensive and frightened by the visitors, and looked as if they had never seen daylight in a thousand years. After explaining what they were here for and saying they were not dangerous, the perytons hesitantly explained their situation.
The perytons used to be a proud, strong and prosperous race, but that quickly changed when Nightmare Moon took over the rule, preventing the sun to rise and keeping her eternal night for days. The perytons are dependant on sunlight, so when the sun never rose again, they grew weak and scared and assumed the world was ending, sealing themselves in inside their caves by their paranoia never to return. There, they had stayed for a thousand years, dwindling away in their own time-consuming fear, not knowing how much time had passed.
Now, when they've been re-introduced to the overworld, they're slowly but surely recovering from their paranoia and introverted nature. Progress is slow, but baby-steps are better than no steps.

Towards the far west you will find Farasi: the home of the Abadi. Farasi is a beautiful land filled with bountiful greenery and landscapes, that also houses a large population of kelpies and zebras. Zebrat in particular is Farasi's capital with a decent population that is on very good terms with Aashtethos, Istanbull, Djenneigh and Hakoda. These five cities form a tight bond, calling themselves the Phoenix Five with Aashtethos spearheading their alliance.

Natural disasters happen every now and then, and while they're destructive, they're fortunately very rare. However when they do happen, it can cause long-lasting effects on their surroundings, some even being permanent.
The example that many go back to is Hurricane Cosmos. Cosmos was a category 4 hurricane that came from over Hailberg and North Luna ocean heading east over Seaward Shoals, Vanhoover and Tall Tale, continuing over Stratusburg and Cloudsdale before changing course up North. It eventually disbanded due to pegasi stormtamers before reaching the Crystal Empire. Devastating damage happened along the way, especially to Cloudsdale, and it took many painful hours to dispand the storm.
Cloudsdale ended up straight in the crossfire of Hurricane Cosmos. The entire floating city was devoured in its path, claiming many lives and harming many others. Their homes were gone and were unable to be salvaged, so the residents of Cloudsdale had to move to other places. Many took residence in places like Stratusburg, Canterlot, Ponyville and Vanhoover, with some others going further south to places like Baltimare and Las Pegasus. Even today Cloudsdale is plauged by constant rainfall and unstable cloud formations, that even the most skilled weatherponies can't fix.

The story of Graymourne isn't one that will make many that happy. Today that old city lays dormant and untouched, with the streets and houses covered in trees and vegetation. But well over a thousand years ago, it was one of the most significant cities of the East. Ruled by Prince Orion and his wife lady Sakura, which was later passed on to their children Princess Aurora and Prince Atlas, Graymournes population quickly grew in numbers and was well known for its pristine living conditions of their time.
But, as the story goes, it never managed to last forever. With the death of Orion and later on the successful assasination bombing of Atlas and Aurora, Graymourne was left dormant. The people had no ruler, and the city was plauged by poverty and depression. Soon enough, the people either fled to other locations or stayed and withered in their old homes.
The one location that some Graymournians fled to was a new, tiny, stone-built village they named Cobblerock. Tucked away inside Sugar Maple Grove, the village was comfortable and cozy, and it managed to stay afloat even without any rulers. The ponies that live there are mostly introverted and shy, but are very humble and welcoming to passing by travelers. Sometimes they're visited by wandering reindeer, coming from up north. In the desolate wild lays Tundra, the home of the reindeer, who are normally very reclusive and proud but have a close connection with Cobblerock and its inhabitants, knowing what had happened to their people so many years ago. Graymourne was the home to many reindeer as well, giving Cobblerock and Tundra a mutual respect for one another.
Other times they get visitors from nearby places like Griffonstone and Trotsylvania, as well. While not as closely connected with one another like with Tundra, they sometimes share some trades and resources with each other.

Despite the old Pegasi, Earth and Unicorn tribes now being gone, one of the oldest known tribes that are still around today are the Hitchocki. Located down south to the west of Klugetown, the Hitchocki tribes have been around since well before the founding of Equestria. They're a free-spirited people made from all kinds of races such as earth ponies, horses, gazelles, antilopes, wildebeasts, rams and ibex. They use ancient magic that they harness from the crystals in their mountains and in the ground, which allows them to be one with their nature and have connections to their ancient forefathers.
They're made up of six villages; The Runners, Defenders, Crawlers, Walkers, Hunters and the Guardians. All six have their own individual tasks, ensuring that they all work together with one another in order to survive.
Unfortunately, the recent invasion of the modern ponies have forced these tribes to be pushed back into their mountains. The mining for minerals in their mountains and the urbanisation of their land have forced the Hitchocki to hide out more and more, and many experts say that if nothing is done, their entire tribe could inevitably die out.

Another pony tribe that had been kept isolated from the mainland are the Thracians. Much to anyone's surprise, the Thracian tribe are a fourth pony race alongside earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns, that share the looks of earth ponies but posess canine teeth and a hunger for flesh; some even rumored to be able to breathe fire. King Thrace was there when the Windigos attacked, looking for shelter and a place to call home. The unicorn, pegasi and earth ponies had bonded and put their differences aside to form Equestria. However when king Trace arrived, he wasn't greeted with warmth or charity; these so-called "friends" left him out in the cold. King Thrace, struck with frustration and spite, marched onwards and lead his people to a new place. They claimed an island far off to the north east and named it Thrace.
Today the kingdom remains isolated and their hatred for Equestria's hostility burns on, hoping that one day the current king, King Diomedes, may take over the throne and rule all. However there have been a handful of defectors spotted around Equestria and beyond that have gotten fed up with the hostile and confrontational nature of Thrace, hoping to learn what friendship is about.

While the Equestria that we know and love today is a wonderful place, there are still some obstacles that are present here and there. For example, there are a small minority of unicorns who still cling on to their ancient kingdom of Unicornia. They claim that their magic-based selves are much more higher up and important than the other races and detest the opening of the barriers even to their fellow Earth ponies and Pegasi, claiming that they should rebuild Unicornia. They believe the magic and power of unicorns is vastly superior to any other magic/creature known to ponykind, and that their magical abilities could help build a better, more sustainable kingdom that can allow modern technology and infrastructure to flourish.
These xenophobic views are shunned and rejected by the vast majority of the population, and it's one of princess Twilight Sparkle's top priorities to ensure it stays that way.
Princess Cadance is doing her best to help keep Equestria happy as well, with making sure that anycreature is allowed to love whoever they want, despite what other bigoted ponies might think. These Unicornia-admirers and some others close by in their circle deject the relationships between two different races, believing that anyone should only love someone of their own kind. Griffons should love griffons, ponies should love ponies, zebras should love zebras and so on. Clearly, these views aren't very well received by the majority either, and Cadance as the princess of Love have proven time and time again that anycreature is allowed to love whoever they may choose, no matter the race.

The four princesses make sure to keep the peace within their own kingdom together with their neighboring lands. Despite the issues and feuds along the way, nothing has so far managed to overthrow their world permanently.

Nothing will. Right?

QUICK NOTE: In this AU, the Kirins that are present in the cartoon are not Canon, and the Peaks of Peril does not exist.
I created my version of the kirins prior to the premiere of that episode which introduced Kirins into the show, and when I first saw that episode I honestly couldn't be bothered to change my map and story all over again. In this AU Kirins are much more mythical and mysterious, with some being unsure wether they were ever real to begin with.
