Description The last photo from the boom this year - an IR shot that I call Creation, mainly because of the white light at the top right.

Since this will be my last photo of the year, I wanted to say thanks to the 100+ people who are watching. Your support has been key to my development as a nature photographer, and I wish you all the best this coming year.

This photo makes me think something exciting and enigmatic is going to happen. The magenta sky and the dark trees just increase the anticipation. I really like this...that's why I added it to my +fav's a while back.

I do love the way you've played with the colors in here, I'm also not very fond of the border to the left perhaps more though because its white and throws me off the pic itself, still its an excellent shot

Good to hear about the support - may that continue to grow as your talent does in the new year!

wow, this is a great infrared shot... i love how the sky turned out in pink, and the details of the branches against that sky is really great too.
i've been meaning to get my hands on some colour infrared film, but we actually need police permits to import them in here! so i'm gonna have to wait til i or someone goes overseas!

Yes, I love naked tree branches. It's too bad that there was a breeze that caused motion blur on some of the branches. Oh well, great composition. Very nice.

You're very observant. This was taken on a windy day, but I thought the strong color more than made up for the minor blurrrrrrr. Grassy-ass for the comment.

Nate sees something from Boomslice on the watch and says "uh oh, has he done it again?"

Yeah he has. I don't know how you do it, but you do it every time. This is subtle as far as the actual photography goes, but the combination of IR with the angle that you've shot the sky from makes it an impressive shot. Simple but very very beautiful. Looks like you're out of that blue phase

The color is very unique, I'm wondering if it is enhanced at all? I'm not very fond of the border on the right however, it kind of makes the entire image feel a little off balance, because of the placement of that bright dash of light in the sky I thought perhaps that it would have been better represented by having the border on the opposing side so there is no specific edge where there is so much light. In a sense I feel it distracts greatly from the one bright light in the photo and I thought that maybe it could have been better represented by a smaller, black border around the entire image so the white was brought out instead of contrasted. However, bacause of the detail you managed to capture here

boomslice In reply to tarahlynn [2003-12-31 07:24:49 +0000 UTC]

Hi Tara. I really appreciate your constructive criticism.
As Matt has pointed out, the reddish color comes from IR, but I did enhance levels and contrast a bit in PS. You got me.
As for the border, I thought the same thing right after I posted (isn't it strange how things look different once they're online?), but I didn't want to change the border because it's kinda my thing. Interestingly enough, I have been thinking about trying something new. I've been using the same white bar/border thing since May, so the new year may bring new ideas. We'll see.

Have a happy new year, otay?

I think we're all guilty of a little enhancing in photoshop, that little bit can bring out so much of the quality in a photo I know what you mean, despite my slow internet connection I always view my photos online instead of just opening the file on my computer it seems to make them look better

You have a happy new year too!

Ta
