hah, you thought I’d take this in a shipping direction didn’t you, but instead I hit you with
R E L A T A B L E F E E L I N G S
I’m graduating college soon, so all my friends are suddenly moving out of my day to day life. I’m still in school here for another 4 years because veterinary medicine, and I’ll be moving in to a single bedroom apartment, so I’m suddenly very lonely. Needed to get my feels out in a productive way so I turned it into this.
Obviously I invested a lot of time and emotion into this one, been more or less completely terrified about what the future is going to hold for me, and very soon. Childhood home is gone, childhood friends are on their way out the door, it’s just going to be me vs the world really soon and I don’t feel ready. I’ll be keeping in touch with these people of course but it’s not the same. I imagine a lot of you can relate.
At least this was a fun project. Took me way longer than I thought it would, but it made me feel a lot better. Hopefully if you feel my feels then it can make you feel a little better too.

Childhood is such a sacred time that should not be squandered or infringed upon. Children are so lucky and don't realize this. Responsibility and obligations wear down adults and children are free to live unrestrained by it.

Honestly I relate to this so much; with doing my millwright apprenticeship I dont have nearly as much time for art or music like I used to lol.. but I do tend to enjoy peoples' company more now

THIS IS REALLY SWEET! Also I love your art style; the lines have a sort of crayon look to them that's very charming and fits the mood. Is this traditionally drawn or is that a brush on an art program? Anyway, really great job; a lovely and heartwarming comic. ^^

It’s just SAI’s round brush tool with a paper texture, I also set the density to correspond to pen pressure on top of lowering the max density to begin with (that way, if I press harder I get a darker line, but I can still go over that line multiple times to make it even darker. It feels a lot more like real pencil that way). It’s easily my favorite brush cause it feels so traditional, but it’s purely digital.

This totally started out with that shipping feeling. I'm going to ignore it wasn't about shipping at all. Instead, I'm going to pretend Sweetie Belle is heartbroken by that HARDCORE FRIENDZONE
I mean holy hell, if she was trying to get at the "I want to be more than just friends" approach, that last line must be devastating

I admire what you tried to do here. Really. The art is great but the text... sry, it's not.
The dialogue doesn't feel natural, I can't see any of them talking that way. They use too many words to be kids.
You projected your own feelings, your own thoughts but they didn't fit into the characters you choose. Sry.
I hope you keep working so a future day you'll make better comics.

The fact they are having this conversation indicates to me they aren't just kids any more. I am imagining this is happening several years in the future, as they start to be pulled in different directions. Also, keep in mind that in rural communities (as I imagine ponyville to be) this happens much quicker than in more advanced society. In our society, we are 'kids' and in school until well after adulthood. I consider the end of childhood to be somewhere around 20 years old, when people start acting mature and responsible (happens at different rates for different people of course). It may not be until 23 or 25 that someone becomes entirely independent from their parents.
In a society like ponyville, kids probably stay in school until they are 10 or so, then go into some sort of trade. They get jobs earlier, and move on earlier, which makes them become independent and mature at a much faster rate than when they can play around at school all day and their parents take care of them.
Anyway, this is much more than I intended to write, and much more than you wanted to read, but I hope it was worth it!

So many other comics that try to have heart to them instead of some funny punch line go waaay over the top with it and make it kinda awkward, this was actually done really well.

In dutch, it not hard at all. There is actually a proper word for y'all that is used in normal, not regional conversation. My two years there have gotten me using y'all in semi-formal situations, instead of saying you all.

And until today we still found the time to meet even when we live 100 Kms of each other. Great piece.

On a serious note, though, I love the colors and styles you used for this- it's simple and clean, but still striking, and the writing isn't overcomplicated either. It cuts straight to the heart of an issue that we all deal with, without minimizing or shrugging it away. This is absolutely visually and emotionally beautiful.
