Vs
Katsuki Bakugo, Deku’s Explosive Rival
But put them together in a battle to the death... who will be victorious?
*For this fight since RWBY Vol 6 is still going on we’ll only be focusing on Yang from Volumes 1-5*
Hot Headed Brawlers!
Yang Xaio Long – a member of Team RWBY and Ruby Rose’s older sister. The world of Remnant is a world of survival. Vicious creatures called Grimm run wild and if not stopped entire cities will become a waste land. Luckily, the world is protected by the Huntsmen and Huntresses, an elite group of expertly trained warriors were they all possess a weapon that also can become a gun. Yang was born as the daughter of Raven Branwen and Taiyang Xiao Long, who were both trained warriors. Raven unfortunately left Taiyang shortly after Yang was born, after finding out that Summer Rose wasn’t Yang’s biological mother Yang was trained by her uncle Qrow Branwen and became a huntress at Beacon Academy with the goal of finding her mother and why she abandoned her. Unlike her teammates, Yang's fighting style is much more aggressive as she uses a barehanded fist-fighting style. Yang is quite agile, able to dodge gunfire with ease. Her weapon, Ember Celica, is a pair of gauntlets that’s also a shotgun. When Yang lost her aim during the fall of Beacon she was given a cybernetic arm with the same functions as Ember Celica and can be detach and fired like a projectile. Since gaining her prosthetic arm, Yang has taken to using its armored surface defensively, shielding herself from firearms, and staving off attacks to gain greater ground on her opponents. Yang's fighting style involves combining her punches with explosive shots from Ember Celica for moderate or short ranged attacks. It has powerful recoil which can be utilized to augment the force of her punch and increase the speed her movements, even being able to launch herself in the air. She can hold up to 12 Shots in each one, holding up to 24 Shots in total. Yang carries 2 types of shells; Red Shells explode upon impact and are used for more long-range attacks while Orange Shells are for up close fights and release a short distance blast of Kinetic Energy. She is physically the strongest of the group and like all Huntsmen and Huntresses, Yang has had her Aura unlocked which she can coat her body with a shield powered by her soul to protect her and heal minor wounds. Also like her teammates as well as every Huntsmen and Huntress, Yang possesses a Semblance, a special ability unique to every warrior. Yang’s Semblance is called “Draws Strength from Hits”, she’s basically a berserker. Her Semblance allows her to take the energy from every blow she takes and use it to make herself more powerful, the more hits she takes the stronger she becomes. During the final state of her Semblance, her eyes turn red and her hair lights on fire. Yang's Semblance does not make her angry, but anger has led her to want to use it. While she has a fun personality, she is not someone to mess with. She’s strong to shatter stone and punch an Ursa, bear looking Grimm, through several fully-grown trees. She was Nominated to the Finals off the Vytal Festival, pushed through PTSD, survived a fall of about 10,000 feet and 50 tons of force upon impact, single-handedly took out everybody in a nightclub, got so angry she broke the Color Spectrum, shattered a mech with a few hits, can move faster than the eye can see, fought against the characters from Blazblue Cross Tag Battle (Blazblue, Persona 4, and Under Night In-Birth), and defeated Final Fantasy’s Tifa Lockheart in an official Death Battle. As cool and awesome as she is she still has weaknesses. Other then being hot-headed and having a temper, Yang tends to over rely on her Semblance. While she’s durable enough to take a hit she still takes the full force of the attack, meaning that quickly inflicting large amounts of damage will take her down. Although a powerful Semblance, Yang is unable to power it up without taking damage first, weakening herself in the process. Yang is also not that good against kick-based fighting styles, like when she struggled against Neopolitan, Melanie Malachite, and Mercury Black. While she is more in control of her anger now she still has a lot to learn to become a great Huntress.

Katsuki Bakugo – the deuteragonist and a student in the My Hero Academia series. After a strange event, people around the world started developing strange powers and abilities. Given the term "Quirks", 80% of the world's population possessed a unique superpower of their own. With this dramatic change in human society and to fill the void in crime fighting, the profession of professional Superheroes came to be - fighting criminals and actual Supervillains as a professional career. Hero Schools were built all around the world to give children a chance in fulfilling their dream of becoming a professional hero while being trained to better use and understand their Quirks. There were many but the best out of all of them was U.A. High School in Japan, and one of these students while talented is a not exactly a perfect example of a hero. He’s crude, arrogant, aggressive, an anti-hero if not downright villainous for those not familiar with him, enter Katsuki Bakugo. Katsuki although wanting to be a Pro Hero, was more of a bully when growing up especially to his childhood friend Izuku Midoriya who was born without a Quirk even going far as telling Izuku to kill himself for being born weak. Although Katsuki was accepted into U.A. High his behavior didn’t improve once Izuku suddenly got accepted with a Quirk of his own which was secretly inherited to him by All-Might, the greatest superhero on the planet. While aiming to be the best hero like his idol All-Might, Katsuki doesn’t really understand what being a hero actually means. See like Izuku, Katsuki worshipped and wanted to be the best like All-Might, and by best, I mean beat up and win against every villain he encounters. While Bakugo is a phenomenal fighter his overconfidence and pride make him lack to understand what being a hero truly means. Arrogance aside he was born with a powerful and pretty cool Quirk, his Quirk is called Explosion. Instead of sweat, he secretes nitroglycerin-like sweat from his palms and can detonate it at will to create explosions. The sweatier he is the stronger his explosions become which works well with him since he’s a fighter. Not only can he blast his opponents, but he can fly as well by propelling himself in the air and is able to navigate in a instant. He can increase his speed using his Explosions, he can run around 27.1 miles per hour and is fast enough to avoid Shoto Todoroki’s ice attacks which is impressive since he can freeze people and objects in the blink of an eye. His blasts are strong enough to shatter solid ice in an instant and his most powerful so far was destroying a meteor shower and the shockwave not only sent his opponent flying back but shook the entire Sports Festival stadium. Katsuki is able to manipulate different forms of explosions as well, other then using explosions to increases his speed he can create explosions of light similar to an actual stun grenade. He basically created an explosive tornado with the effectiveness of a missile called Howitzer Impact where Katsuki takes to the air and uses explosions to propel himself in a circular motion to create a tornado. This tornado builds up oxygen to fuel the incoming explosion and after contacting the ground, Katsuki releases the powerful aforementioned explosion. AP Shot is a a concentrated blast beam when Katsuki stretches out one of his hands and uses his other hand to form a circle on the palm of his outstretched hand. A rapid-fire version of his AP Shot is AP Shot Auto Cannon, but the explosive power is reduced in order to avoid dealing severe damage to human targets (how kind of him). Katsuki’s hero costume has a set of Grenadier Bracers, during a fight these bracers store his nitroglycerin-like sweat. Once filled he can pull the grenade pin in order to release a large powerful blast capable of destroying everything in its blast radius. Also, around his belt are several containers that look like hand grenades. These also store Katsuki’s explosive sweat and can be used like grenades in later use. As mention before, Katsuki is a skilled fighter one of the strongest students in Class 1-A. His level of strength is above average, he can take blows from Izuku’s One for All at 8% and is able to use his Grenade Bracers without any recoil whereas Izuku nearly dislocated his arm just from using one. While not bright when it comes to school and rescue missions, he’s a genius in a battle who fully understands to concepts of his Quirk. In a fight he’s proven to be very smart and strategic like when he figured out Kurogiri's Quirk weakness and Fumikage's weakness in a short period of time. Even Pro Heroes see and admire his great potential and battle-sense. Katsuki is one hell of a rival, he scored 1st in the U.A. Practical Exam, threw a Softball 709.6 meters, along with Izuku Midoriya defeated a heavily restrained All-Might, defeated Ochaco Uraraka, Shoto Todoroki, Fumikage Tokoyami, broke through Eijiro's hardening Quirk, during the Villain Assault on the U.A Students found the weakspot of Kurogiri, and took 1st in the Sports Festival. While his Quirk is amazing and is full of potential, he has a few flaws. Other then then his short temper he actually has a limit to how many explosions he can create. Overusing his Quirk is like overworking your muscles or when you run too long you run out of breath, if he use’s his Quirk too much or too long he will tire out.
“You'll regret making a fool of me! I'll freaking kill you! I'm taking the first to end all firsts! There's no point in winning against some half-assed punk! No point if I can't do better than Deku! So if you're not trying to win, get the hell outta my face! Why're you even here, you bastard?!”

Oh man, this is dope. I must say, you're really on fire with these new versus matchups. Now, let's get into this. I have seen this matchup done so many times online, both here on DA and on youtube. So far, all of them have ended the same way, and although I agree with them all, I would still like to toss in my two cents, as I differ on some of the points made about this fight in favor of the overall chosen winner. So, here I go.
Round 1: Physicality-It's pretty obvious that most, if not the entirety, of this fight will be a major physical contest. While a lot of people say that Yang has superior strength, I feel this is more attributed to her Semblance, so I am inclined to believe that Bakugou has better base strength. However, when it comes to speed and durability, I do believe Yang reins supreme in both categories. Yang has no trouble keeping up with the rest of her teammates and other Huntsmen and Huntresses in training, possessing hypersonic speed feats, which includes Ruby, whose Semblance completely revolves around speed. Meanwhile, although Bakugou has proven himself fast in his own right, he has had a much harder time dealing with other speedy characters in My Hero Academia, which includes Deku, barely able to react to his 8%. As for durability, Yang wins out here for the obvious reason: her Aura. Now I won't lie, I'm starting to feel like a broken record here, but whenever I have given a RWBY character the durability advantage, it always comes down to Aura. Even so, the fact of the matter is only Bakugou will be taking any damage from start to finish, while Yang will only do so until after her Aura is depleted. On top of that, Yang even has superior stamina over Bakugou, as she was able to take down Grimm for an entire day before tiring out, while Bakugou was only capable of fighting Earth Beasts for a handful of hours. And even though I am confident Bakugou will land a few hits on Yang, I don't doubt she can take them, and if she can, then it's Bakugou's funeral, as he'll only be making Yang stronger. Bakugou might start off the fight stronger, but beyond strength, he's completely outclassed by the Huntress in training. Yang Xiao Long gets the edge for her physical attributes.
Round 2: Weapons-Now this round is completely contrast to the last one, as there is much less of a gap here. When looking at their respected gauntlets, it's clear that each set comes with clear advantages and disadvantages. Let's first look at Yang with her Ember Celica and metal arm. First of all, Yang will be able to fire off more shots and will have spare ammo at the ready if she needs it. On top of that, she can also use her weapons to give herself better maneuverability, whether by jumping high into the air or performing flanking attacks to get under her opponent's guard. The problems she'll have here are that she'll be vulnerable when it comes time to reload, and although her gauntlets increase her striking power, they are most effective in up close combat. Now, let's take a look at Bakugou and his Grenade Bracers. First of all, he obviously has advantages with range and area of effect. Not only can the explosions he can create cover more ground, but they can also inflict greater levels of damage. Plus, because of their size and weight, they make for good melee weapons as well. The problems with them are he can't use them for as long as he wants and has to make every shot he fires off count. On top of that, if he puts too much power into his attacks, the Grenade Bracers will break apart. So, who has the ultimate advantage here? To be honest, I think what I have described is a pretty balanced set of advantages and disadvantages. Only their other overall advantages will really determine who will truly stand victorious over the other. No edge will be given to either protector in training for their weapons.
Round 3: Tactics-This round is also pretty close. Now because of their tempers, I have had to endure plenty of people calling these two idiots. However, just because someone is hot-headed, doesn't make that person dumb. Batman Beyond and Avatar Korra are both good examples of this. Yang and Bakugou are no exceptions, as they're both more highly adaptive than most might think, and they're always striving to be the best fighters they can be. However, to me, the deciding factor here isn't who's smarter. It all comes down to who is better at keeping their temper in check, and on that score, I favor Yang. Now if this was Yang prior to the fall of Beacon, I think I would still favor her, but not by much. But after getting back into shape with help from her father, I think she has become better at controlling her temper. Meanwhile, Bakugou has remained hot-headed to a fault and has an incredibly big ego. The second things start falling out of his favor, he just loses it, and this has often been to his detriment. On the other hand, Yang isn't as liable to explode as much as Bakugou is, and even if he pisses her off, it will work more to his downfall than Yang's, as he is more likely to get overwhelmed by Yang's equally aggressive fighting style. Yang Xiao Long gets the slight edge for her tactics.
Final Verdict:
Damn, I lost a major opportunity to do this fight myself, but then again, there is still so much story to tell in both RWBY and My Hero Academia. However, as of now, I do believe both fighters have enough to work with for a good compare-and-contrast. In the end, it can go either way for sure, but I do feel that one outcome is far more likely than the other. Now at the start of the fight, I find it likely that Bakugou will take the early advantage. I don't think he would immediately go all out, but spend the first few exchanges getting a feel for how Yang fights, but it won't take long for him to see they have similar fighting styles. I also don't think Yang would fail to notice their similarities, either, so I don't think it would take long for them to stop taking potshots at each other and hit each other harder. Bakugou will certainly hit harder at this point in the fight, but he'll still have a hard time trying to hit Yang, and if he does hit her, she'll only become stronger. Now if Bakugou fails to put Yang down and out for the count right away, then a major shift would begin to occur. The few hits that Yang sustains will activate her Semblance, and when their next exchange comes around, Bakugou will see the shift, as Yang will suddenly be hitting harder than before. As a result, he'd start to get a little flustered, and it would show in his fighting style, and Yang would not hesitate to press her advantage. What's more, Bakugou would notice how Yang has not sustained a scratch while he is getting pretty banged up. If the fight proceeds into the late game, Bakugou would start coming at Yang with more powerful explosions than before. Yang would have to go on the evasive temporarily, but it wouldn't be for long, as Bakugou would eventually overextend himself, causing his Grenade Bracers to break apart. And then, the bitchslapping would commence and Yang would punch the stuffing out of him. Ultimately, I see this fight ending somewhere between the mid and late fight. Bakugou's attacks might be more devastating, but his Quirk will only provide him with a limited amount of shots to dish out, and this will be made all the more difficult by the fact that already has a major speed advantage over him and can undoubtedly outlast him to get to the mid to late fight. Eventually, pride would come before the fall for Bakugou, and Yang would beat him to a pulp in short order.
I declare Yang Xiao Long the winner.

Good analysis as always! I'm favoring Yang as well but if you want a match for Yang I got an interesting fight you can do. Ever seen the anime The Seven Deadly Sins? There's a member of this demonic group called The 10 Commandments named Derieri. While Yang gets stronger for every hit she takes, Derieri becomes stronger the more hits she gives. I have a fight planned for Derieri already so this is available for you if you like

This is actually pretty interesting. Bakugou has the edge in destructive capabilities with his explosion powers, especially at the start. Given how physics works, we can also scale this to his durability. Yang on the other hand, is faster by a decent amount. While I would normally side with Bakugou on this, given he's strong enough to take Yang's attacks at first and his explosions have a good AOE, I'm actually going to side with Yang on this. Yang's Semblance is a major asset in this fight, as, unlike against other opponent's she's usually put up against, the difference in power between the two isn't quite as vast. Theoretically, Yang could tank a blast or two and become stronger, eventually overwhelming Bakugou, especially considering Bakugou's muscles strain after repeated use of his explosions. In the long run, this is going to be a battle of attrition, and Yang has the exact abilities needed to outlast Bakugou.
