I decided that I wanted to make a little short mini comic about Tesshin's (Ho-Oh) past and his relationship with Lugia. this is mainly more practice for setting up comics and also because I thought Ho-oh deserved some of the spotlight for a change.

I'm sick of hearing so many people talk bad about Ho-oh simply because he "didn't have a movie like Lugia".
I get the feeling that half these people that insult him are doing it just because they've never even tried using him in battles. he's awesome and has proven to come in handy in many situations.

Alrighty, so we all know that Ho-Oh is a legendary pokemon, meaning that although in my comic, he speaks with a male voice and is referred to as male, he is still basically genderless, meaning that he can never make kids of his own.

After years of watching the many human families with their children, Ho-oh started to feel a little lonely.
sure, he would adopt many orphaned baby pokemon and take good care of them, but everything always ended the same way, and he would always outlive them. it was painful for him to watch as all his children would grow old and die before him, it was a never-ending cycle.

He would pray every night for a child that he could keep with him always.

one day, he came across a strange baby pokemon that he had never seen before.
without hesitation, instincts kicked in and he decided to take the child under his wing.
and it was thanks to the people of Ecruteak who named this baby, 'Lugia'.

Ho-oh loved all his children, but he felt a very special connection with this new little hatchling.
this special feeling made him very happy, but also very sad, as he suspected that this one would also grow old and die in time...

20 years had past, then 40 years, then an extra 36...
96 whole years had gone by and Lugia was still here with him looking just as young and fit as he did as a newborn. Ho-oh was baffled, never had he seen a pokemon besides himself live for so long and still look so young.

even the fables of Ninetale's and Wartortle's longevity were just that, fables, and paled in comparison.
(they only live for about 70-80 years) and Lugia managed to outlive them both and continued to live and grow larger.

Ho-oh was overjoyed, he believed that his prayers been answered and that he finally had a son that he could love, and would love him back and would be with him forever...or so he thought.

woah, that was a lot to write.
anyway, this was done in Paint Tool Sai and photoshop, and took about 9 hours tops.
oh, and by the way, guess I should get this out of the way and let you all know that this will actually be a sad and heartbreaking story.
