Description I love both snow and foxes, so why not combine them in one painting?

This painting didn't quite make the cut to be on any Christmas cards, as I decided the blocks of single colours looked a bit too simple, and the representation rather idealistic over realistic. Still, I had fun painting this piece, particularly stippling the snow!
Here's hoping we'll get to feel snow like this this christmas!

Painted on oil sketching paper with pink, red, blue, yellow, white and black oil paints.

Sorry its taken me a while to comment on this!
When i first saw this in my inbox forever ago, i new this was gunna be on my favourites list.
Foxes and snow. Ideal combination! It reminds me of the foxes i used to get in my garden. Specifically, i remember when it snowed one year and i could see their pawprints all over the settled snow.
Anyway. I really like the design of this. I especially love how visible the brush strokes are, giving texture to the foxes fur and to the snow. I like how the snow is shaded as well... really adds depth, makes it look very 3D, especially where the foxes paw is sinking into the snow. Lovely details on the face as well, with a good colour diversity. I think the eyes are my favourite. Those tiny details on them really do stand out for me.

I love foxes and snow too, but I don't think we have foxes where we live. I'm so glad you notice all those details, makes it all the more worthwhile.

When I full-viewed and saw the fur, especially the grey bit in the middle of his head, I literally went 'wow!'
The colours are brilliant, on his fur and the snow texture. I love how you've got the little highlights in his eyes and on his nose.

Aww! Thats incredibly beautiful, sweet and brilliant all rolled into one! I love the absence of texture on the body, makes him blend in with the snow a tad.
