Reminds me of a book I read called "Fairest of All: a Tale of the Wicked Queen".

I actually like the idea that when Snow White was little, her stepmother actually loved her, until the mirror corrupted her mind and made her insane with envy.

There's a book called "Fairest of All: a Tale of the Wicked Queen" published by Disney press which has exactly that plot. You'd probably like it (I know I enjoyed reading it).

ever seen "Snow White: A Tale of Terror"? AMAZING adaptation. Very dark, very Medieval. Sigourney Weaver played the Queen, and Monica Keena played Snow White. (in the movie, her name is Liliana, or Lilli, for short.)

did you ever see the film, "Snow White: A Tale of Terror"? It's a very dark version of the story, in which Sigourney Weaver plays the Queen, and Monica Keena plays Snow White (named Liliana, or "Lili" for short, in the film.)In this version, the Queen (BRILLIANTLY played by Sigourney Weaver) starts out loving, and little 7 year old Lili is resentful to her. Ten years later, the Queen is pregnant with the King's unborn son, whom she miscarries. Lili, now 17, feels bad about blaming her stepmother for so many things that weren't her fault, and that's when the mirror tells Claudia, (the Queen) that Lili is more beautiful. Plus, she's got some good old Post Partum Crazies that drive her insane.
It's interesting how in that version of the story, even though Snow White is physically more beautiful than her stepmother, the mirror doesn't say anything about it. Not until after the Queen miscarries and blames her stepdaughter for it, and at the same time, Snow feeling remorseful for it, changes there inner beauty. Now, Snow has changed into a more beautiful girl on the inside, but the Queen degrades into insanity and inner ugliness.

Its kinda odd in a way to see them together, Grimhilde actually holding her hand, but then you see the look on her face and realizes she still doesn't seem to like her much. XD
